May 20—DEKALB JUNCTION — A look through the banners on the high school gym walls confirmed what Hermon-DeKalb Softball Coach Bob Bice already knew. It had been a long time since a Lady Green Demon Softball Team had won the NAC West Division title.

More precisely it has been 31 years since a H-D squad had won the banner outright and 25 years since a Demon band had shared the highly coveted crown.

The waits for both could end in the next two days as the Demons, who secured a 9-2 win over Hammond on Monday, play Heuvelton today and Harrisville on Wednesday. Harrisville has two suffered two losses in league and kept their title hopes alive with a 23-7 win over Edwards-Knox and Lisbon, which lost to Massena 6-4 on Monday, has completed divisional play at 10-2.

H-D stands at 9-1 and has posted nine straight wins off a loss to Lisbon on the opening day of the season.

Heuvelton dropped a 13-12 nonleague loss to Brushton-Moira on Monday and one NAC West Baseball game saw Hermon-DeKalb drop Morristown 11-3.

Madrid-Waddington (10-0) claimed sole comtrol of the NAC East title by outscoring Colton-Pierrepont 12-8.
