Could you imagine the reaction the fan base would have if Monti and Bidwill thought the answer to the teams struggles, was promoting the coach the fan base had the biggest problem with....
The fallout would be amazing..

I do think Petzing was overhated because of MHJ being bad. We had a top 10 offense in 2024. It takes years for fans to come to terms with a prospect like that being bad. (Still holding out hope for year 3).

There are still people who think Isaiah Simmons could have been good with different coaches. The guy has failed to catch on even as a special teams only player and he still has fans. Simmons currently resides on the Panthers practice squad.

What a ridiculous presser. Just say that Gannon and crew sucked. The way they briefed this was asinine.

The Cardinals surely knew as well, at some point during a nine-game losing streak that gave the organization its first-ever 14-loss season.

What’s the point in waiting? What’s the point in letting the head coach finish the season when the decision has been made to replace him?

Bidwill didn’t decide after the Week 18 loss to the Rams that he’d be hiring a new coach. He didn’t have anything to sleep on (which, on Monday, he told reporters he did). He made the decision at some point before Sunday and kept it very quiet until today. Through it all, he kept the organization from getting the ball rolling on finding the best replacement.

Why did he choose to do it? The simplest explanation is this: Dysfunctional teams do dysfunctional things.
Firing mid season doesnt help you get a new coach faster in the NFL like it does in college. Very strict rules about tampering mid season. Chances are our favorite candidates are coaching in the playoffs right now and we won't be able to talk to them until they are eliminated.

A mid season firing only makes sense if the entire locker room hates the coach in question.

Wasn’t aware Gannon had been given his walking papers until about an hour ago (busy day at work). All I gotta say is…hallelujah! It’s Christmas in January! And yes, I too wish Monti got canned as well—he stinks.
Much harder for GMs to lose their jobs. Heck, the guy in Cleveland who orchestrated them signing Deshaun Watson to that huge, guaranteed contract still has a job while Stefanski was canned.

I thought the owner was the driving force behind that fiasco.

Saleh has already proven he can’t function with a dysfunctional organization. He’s an awesome DC.

Yes that is mindblowing. He traded 3 first round picks and gave him a 230 million contract knowing all along about the allegations with the massage therapists, which last time I checked was up to like 70 women. He didn't play well at all then got hurt, more legal action by alleged victims. And he still survived.

hard to say. inherited a terrible team won 4 games. Then 7-10 with a terrible QB. Then they get Rodgers and playoffs here we come and then he gets hurt and they again have a terrible QB and go 7-10. Then he got fired at 2-3 the next year they finished 5-12 so 3-9 after he was fired.

I do agree he's an amazing DC. I do think he's probably a better coach than we saw with the Jets but it's not like he's got a lock at QB if we hire him here either.

I really don't care Gannon was fired. I truly couldn't care less.

But this is the worst job in the cycle. A benched mediocre QB on a fat deal, a draft unlikely to produce a replacement, and the toughest division in football with 3 top 10 HCs.

The roster is much better than our draft position. It's better than the roster last year that was leading the division in week 10. But the QB questions and the division make it unattractive.

90% chance the next HC is worse than Gannon (who, while not perfect, had major IR issues this year). We're talking Arthur Smith, Vance Joseph, Mike McCarthy level guys.

This move makes it move likely we get some ass HC who thinks they can fix Kyler and we get two more years of ass football.

Clearing Gannon is the lowest of bars.
Yeah that’s kind of why it was a crazy statement to close on. If you can’t do better than a guy who is 16 games under .500 through three seasons you might as well fold up the whole thing.

Jeff Fisher is eight games over .500 through 23 seasons. Jesus that guy was a head coach forever.
