It's so interesting how the players' response to this has changed. A few years ago, the players absolutely despised it, and only accepted it as a last resort after holding out, etc.

I don't mean to jinx anyone or anything, but it's a huge risk to give up what is likely tens of millions of guaranteed money more than what tagged players are receiving. There's no free agent market for someone that gets hurt badly.

Maybe it has to do with the high guaranteed salary that comes with it now. That and that there aren't that many guys whose careers are ended by an injury. Most likely because of the huge advances in treating knee injuries.

Has a one year tendered guy on a franchise tag ever got a career threatening injury, God Forbid?
