I definitely will. So far I have all of the pictures from the restaurant except for two. I gave two sports-related photos to Mark Asher when he got married. He was floored. One had W&L and Willie Mays and the other might have been Ali...not sure. He said he was going to put them in his game room.

Nope, I haven't, but I will make sure to check it out! I save $200-$300 every month JUST with CouponSense, plus I make money teaching CouponSense classes, so I don't really go searching for that many other deals and deal forums. i used to watch wallace and ladmo as a kid. i went to a birthday party at chuckee cheese or whatever it was called outside metro center once for a wallace and ladmo birthday party where like the entire place was just full of kids birthday parties. i never got a ladmo bag though.

but i don't remember legend city. what was it?

anyone ever remember the channel 5 show "pets on parade"? my kindergarten or first grade class, can't remember, went on that show.

It was an Old West themed ammusment park that shared a boarder where Phoenix Municiple Stadium still stands. It was Arizona themed so there was a Lost Dutchman ride, roller coaster and Wallace and Ladmo played there all the time. The place was fun

Also, Pets on Parade is still on, and they still have the cheesy theme song

Yup, according to that website I posted, Srp purchased the land and bulldozed it to put up office buildings in 1983.

They say on that site that in 1965 it was the 5th largest Theme Park in the U.S.

I remember having so much fun there and was very sad when it was closed. It was and still is the last amusement park in AZ!

Side note: Does anyone here know if there ever has been or will be old Wallace & Ladmo shows on VHS or DVD? That's one show I'd pay a pretty penny to own re-runs of, just for the memories!!!!!

Well you are about to get your wish. During the Cards preseason game on KAZ (the station that shows the reruns of Wallace and Ladmo), there was a commercial for a 50th Anniversary DVD coming soon.

It will show highlights of the shows 35 years on the air (Longest running TV show ever) and will have the final episode/special in its entirety. They haven't announced a date for release yet. My guess as to that reasoning is that they are still probably adding things in as we speak (for example an interview with Pat McMahon).

Good luck trying to keep that on the shelves!

BTW: The auction ended for that book and it sold for $91.

LOCALS KEEP WALLACE AND LADMO HISTORY ALIVE

TEMPE, AZ – In 1954 It’s Wallace, a show that would later be renamed The
Wallace and Ladmo Show, got its start in Arizona. After 35 years the final
episode aired and the show has been gone ever since. Steve Hoza, a local
historian and fan met with Bill “Wallace” Thompson and the two created a
plan to bring the show back to life. The plan was for Hoza to write a book
on the history of the show from a fan perspective. Hundreds of interviews
were conducted with friends, family, cast, crew, and the general public
about the show and the experiences people had with the show. After years of
work the book was eventually dropped by the publisher. Hoza, not wanting the
project to die, sought out the assistance of his nephew to help him take the
show to a new medium, the internet. Tom Dickson, a part-time web designer
and fan of the show, was eager to assist with the project.

WallaceWatchers.com now features an extensive collection of historical items
on the show. The site features the public history of the show, untold
history and interviews from the cast, fan interviews, photographs of
memorabilia, fan photos, a guestbook and detailed information on each
character from the show. Fans can also download desktop wallpapers for their
computers and listen to audio clips from the show.

In addition to providing fans with a source for information, the site now
features a store where fans can purchase Ladmo Tie T-Shirts and DVD’s of the
Old Time Movies shown on the show. As a lover of animals, Bill “Wallace”
Thompson asked that the two creators of the site donate all profits from the
sales to go to the Arizona Humane Society.

I grew up in Scottsdale and went to elementary school with one of Wallace's daughters. One summer night we we were at a birthday party for one of the neighborhood kids, that lasted until well into the evening. At about nine o'clock, his daughter asked me if I wanted to meet her Dad. We were both in the 4th grade at the time, and the thought of meeting Wallace was somewhat akin to meeting the Pope, so of course I said yes.

So we snuck out of the party and walked down the street to her house. As we approached her home, all the lights we out, with the only thing illuminating the entrance to the house being the glow from the TV. Looking through the screen door I could see the outline of someone laying on the couch. We opened the door slowly, and there was Wallace, sound asleep with a can of beer perched precariously upon his very large stomach.

I stood there, transfixed, listening to him snore for several minutes. Just to prove that this wasn't an illusion, I reached out and kind of poked him in the arm. He let out a snort and his daughter, afraid that I would wake him, said it was time to go - and so we left.

For those of you who didn't grow up in Phoenix, this probably doesn't mean much. But to those of us that did, Wallace and Ladmo were god-like characters. It is impossible to not look back at this show and smile.

I alwys hear noise about a possible legend city in teh West Valley and then it dies off. Are they ever gonna bring back an amusement park here? I remember going to Legen City for Ladmo's birthday party.

God Bless W and L. Watched it everyday of my life till I moved to Tucson to go to college in 88. Met them both at KPHO TV5 once while singing with the Phoenix Boys Choir. We were doing a spot for the channel, and they came over and said hello. I never got a ladmo bag. Damn.

Every kid I knew watched that show. I remember at some point the show would end right as I had to catch the bus in the morning. I remember hearing the HO HO HA HA HE HE HA HA stuff then knowing if I didn't bolt out the door I would miss it. Not only was it a great kids show but it was also my alarm clock.

Also, I got to meet Wallace and Ladmo at a Motorola corporate picnic. Even on the show they had already switched to the smaller bags, they were giving out the jumbo bags. I got a jumbo bag then went on to win a huge turkey that day in a drawing. That's also the same day where we skipped the Circus they had to ride non-stop on the ride that you would stand up in and it just twirled. Don't know if anybody remember it but you would stand up, they would strap you in and it would spin then go up and they would tilt you. Mabye Tilt a Whirl? My brother and I rode it until we puked. All in all a great day. Never will forget that.

I also remember Legend City very well. I lived in Tempe and when we got on our roof, you could see the lights of Legend City at night. All the kids would beg to go. My brothers and I went a few times. I was also there the very last night that it was open. It was great because we didn't have anything like it. I remember getting up on stage with that magician who used to come on the show ever now and then when he did his magic act at Legend City. Like I said, had some good memories related to Wallace and Ladmo growing up.
