Durham Smythe says Lamar Jackson changes everything for an NFL team

After spending years in Miami and Chicago, new Ravens tight end Durham Smythe is now getting his first opportunity to play alongside Lamar Jackson, and it didn't take long for him to understand what makes Lamar different. During an appearance on The Lounge with Ryan Mink and Garrett Downing, Smythe said Jackson's energy and explosiveness immediately impact the entire offense. According to Smythe, Lamar brings consistent energy every day inside the building, but the biggest difference comes once the offense takes the field.

“It’s like it doesn’t matter what play is called. This could be an 80-yard touchdown just because he’s on the field.”

Smythe added that Jackson's ability to create explosive plays changes everyone's mindset in the huddle.

“That brings a confidence to the rest of the huddle too. He calls a play, whatever it may be, and then you’re like, ‘Okay, well, we could literally score on any play.’”

That's the kind of effect only a handful of players in the NFL can have, and it’s something teammates consistently mention whenever they talk about playing with Jackson.
