We’re gonna get to a point in which keeping KD is better than dealing him if this is the compensation being offered in return.

I dont buy that. I can see asking for what we gave up for him in 2023 but we'll never get that. Half would be lucky. No rumored deals have been close to that either. Windhorst doesn't have any sources and is throwing out ideas, IMO.
I agree we won't get close to what we paid, but if a couple rival teams - say Houston and SA, who see themselves as on the cusp of being dominant over one another with KD - get into a bidding war, we could get a pretty decent haul. We just have to hope basic competitive psychology prevails over good sense on their part.

If you can’t get a great deal for Durant I’m in the maybe consider keeping him camp. It doesn’t make any sense to give him away for a crap deal. Can’t just trade him for crap or draft picks for 2030 that’s just dumb.

The trade I proposed is a great deal for the Suns. Two unprotected picks for a 37 year old.

If you're looking to make the team better over the next few years by trading KD, that's just not likely to happen. The best we can hope for is to acquire assets that will still have good value when we've paid off all our draft debts.

Yes, KD was our best player last season. We are not going to replace his 27ppg.

Man were the morning sports hosts on Unsportsmanlike ripping the Suns this morning. Actually, they were ripping the Suns and anyone else who thinks the Suns will get ANYTHING comparable to what they gave up for KD.

I am sure the conversation stemmed from crazy stories like this:

Suns Reportedly Eye Kevin Durant Trade Package 'Comparable' to What They Sent Nets

Then, of course, they ran down what the Suns gave up for Durant: Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four unprotected future first-round picks, and a 2028 first-round pick swap.

The hosts went on and on about how KD is older now and that there is no way the compensation will come close to that and that even KD himself would not want a team giving up that much for him because it would hurt whichever team he is going to.

I understand your point, but I don't want the Suns to extend Durant's contract either, which is what he wants.

IMO, he wouldn't be a happy camper essentially playing as an expiring contract.

I doubt the Suns are trying to trade Durant for a comparable haul. Of course, one wants to set the asking price high and negotiate from there.

Sports media like to talk with the offseason approaching.

And he finished the season strong by missing the last 7 games?

I'm so ready to move on from the Kevin Durant era in Phoenix that only won 36 games last season.

If you can't get a great deal for Durant, you shouldn't be a GM. There are at least 5 contending teams that are DESPERATE for a scorer like KD. The GM should be trying to extract every ounce of value, and tell KD's team to pound sand.
