Ever since the NFL allowed teams to use the No. 0 in their jersey allotment in 2023, it's always been an interesting watch to see which player on each team gets to don the number. Some teams use the number as a strong symbol or a leader of the team.
The Cincinnati Bengals will sport a jersey featuring the No. 0 in the 2026 season, marking the first time in franchise history a Bengal will wear No. 0. That player will be cornerback DJ Turner II. The fourth-year cornerback showed off his new number in a quick video on the Bengals' social media accounts as the team began OTAs this week.
The Bengals had announced the new jersey numbers back in April, but seeing the number in live action really helps bring the historical moment to life.
It also helps bring into focus the ongoing contract talks between the Bengals and Turner. The 2023 second-round pick is scheduled to become a free agent in 2027 and has become a solid piece of the Bengals' secondary. He is coming off a 2025 season in which he recorded 18 passes defended and two interceptions.
The No. 0 isn't a number teams just hand out to any player. So could this be a good sign for Turner's future in Cincinnati? Time will tell, but you have to feel good about the prospects.
