Cincinnati Bengals cornerback DJ Turner could have made some drama out of his contract situation at OTAs.

The Bengals have certainly dealt with similar in the past, including, but not limited to, Trey Hendrickson.

But Turner instead made a point to show up and lead by example.

Speaking with reporters this week, Turner made it clear that he’s deferring to his agent about contract talks and that he wanted to do everything but cause a distraction.

Some of Turner’s commentary, courtesy of CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia:

Turner is only set to make about $3.6 million on the final year of his rookie deal this season. The Bengals, as they have in the past, hold leverage via the threat of a franchise tag in 2027.

On paper, getting a deal done now could work well for both parties. So far, Turner has extended an early olive branch, but we’ll see how things progress into the summer.
