To hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy, teams need health, grit, internal belief and yes, sacrifice. New York Knicks owner James Dolan harped on the lattermost quality in a speech to the team back in April, and included a bizarre request.

Dolan doesn't seem to know much about sacrifice, as he was born into immense wealth and privilege as the son of Cablevision founder Charles Dolan. Still, he deemed himself qualified enough to wax poetic about it to over a dozen NBA players who actually worked their entire lives to get where they are.

At one point, predictably, the speech got awkward as Dolan explained the lengths to which the Knicks should sacrifice over their 10-week run to the NBA Finals.

Did James Dolan really tell Knicks to abstain from sex?

He sure did.

"I had this idea that maybe you should give up sex for the next 10 weeks. You don't have to give up sex for the next 10 weeks," Dolan said. "The Spartans, they denied themselves, right, so they can have an edge. Get the edge. Go home, talk to your wives... don't tell them you're not gonna have sex -- don't tell them it was my idea. But let them know what this is going to be like, what this commitment is going to be like."

It's unclear if the billionaire owner followed through on the advice he gave his players or if he just expected them to listen. Either way, it came off as out of touch and just plain weird.
