A six-game road trip in their rearview mirror after Sunday, May 17, in Denver, when the Diamondbacks wrap up a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies, the team returns to Phoenix for a seven-game homestand against National League West division opponents May 18-24.

But first, right-hander Michael Soroka takes the mound for Arizona on Sunday against the Rockies at 12:10 p.m. MST. Soroka hopes to build off a strong performance in his last start, 6 1/3 innings of scoreless ball.

The Diamondbacks don't get a day off this week, in the midst of a 13-game stretch with no break until May 28. They open a three-game set against the San Francisco Giants on Monday, May 18.

San Francisco wasn't expected to do much this season under first-year, first-time major league manager Tony Vitello. They entered play May 13 six games under .500, though they handily beat the Dodgers on back-to-back nights May 11-12.

They've also been roundly criticized for an odd victory celebration from their outfielders following their May 11 win at Dodger Stadium. Let's just say it was borderline NSFW.

The Giants have some rising talent in outfielder Heliot Ramos and designated hitter Casey Schmitt, both having success at the plate this season. That's mixed with solid veterans Willy Adames, Rafael Devers and hitting machine Luis Arraez.

On the pitching side, while the Giants wait for ace Logan Webb to come back from injury, right-hander Landen Roupp and former Diamondbacks lefty Robbie Ray are anchoring the starting rotation.

The Rockies were two games back of the Giants in last place in the NL West May 13, and are in the middle of a stretch of 13 of 16 games against division opponents.

Troy Johnston and former first overall draft pick Mickey Moniak have been Colorado's best hitters this season.

Game times against the Giants are 6:40 p.m. on May 18 and 19 and 12:40 p.m. on May 20.

The four games against the Rockies have 6:40 p.m. start times on May 21 and 22, 7:10 p.m. on May 23 and 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 24.

The Saturday, May 23, game features a Serpientes replica jersey giveaway for the first 25,000 fans to arrive at Chase Field.
