Jun. 1—The Dayton Flyers men's basketball program took the next step on the long journey to the start of the 2026-27 season in November as players reported to campus last weekend for the start of the summer practice period.

The official UD social media accounts shared photos and videos on Sunday, May 31, of returning players and newcomers arriving.

Last week, Dayton officially announced the signing of six transfers who committed to the program during a six-day period in April:

—Travis Perry, a 6-foot-1 guard who has played at Kentucky and Mississippi.

—Jalen Haynes, a 6-8 forward who sat out last season at Cincinnati because of a knee injury.

—Tristian Ford, a 6-3 guard who redshirted as a freshman at Murray State.

—Zaide Lowery, a 6-5 guard who played at Marquette the past three seasons.

—Grant Randall, a 6-9 forward who played his first two seasons at Quinnipiac.

—Landen Joseph, a 6-2 guard who played his freshman season at Marshall.

All of the players signed soon after committing, except for Haynes, who remained unsigned when Dayton coach Anthony Grant talked to the Dayton Daily News in his first offseason interview on May 4.

Haynes has since signed with Dayton, though his health status for the summer is uncertain. He shared a photo on Instagram over the weekend of him lying in bed with his knee wrapped and elevated with a caption, "Two surgeries in 8 months is something I could (not) ever imagine in my basketball career. I thank God for giving me the strength to keep going and for the ones who forgot about me, it's gonna be a scary sight."

Haynes underwent the first surgery in late October in Cincinnati after suffering a knee injury.

The summer practice period lasts eight weeks. The Flyers typically start the session in mid-June and finish in the first week of August.
