Several Denver Broncos players participated in the third-annual UCHealth Healthy Swings Home Run Derby held at Coors Field on Thursday.
Taking home the title was defending champion wide receiver Courtland Sutton. The veteran receiver has previously attributed baseball to helping him catch footballs over his shoulder and tracking the ball so well on the football field.
Over $260,000 was raised by the charity, the most in the short history of the event. Sutton barely beat out linebacker Alex Singleton in donations raised.
While Sutton did end up winning, several of his teammates also looked great swinging the bat, including former high school baseball star Malcolm Roach, kicker Wil Lutz and second-year running back RJ Harvey.
Unfortunately, it may be too late in the year to ask Sutton and the others to play for the MLB’s Colorado Rockies, who possess the worst record of 24-39. Football is on the horizon!
