The Denver Broncos' wide receiver room received a major upgrade when the team traded for star wideout Jaylen Waddle near the start of 2026 free agency. Many fans and pundits instantly viewed Waddle as the new sheriff in town, the new No. 1 receiver.

Courtland Sutton, who was the Broncos' bona fide No. 1 receiver in the first two years of the Bo Nix era, has no problem potentially giving up some of his targets and catches to Waddle if it helps the team win.

"Shoot, you guys know me," Sutton told Broncos media members after an OTA practice last week. "We’ve talked for years at this point, and I want to win games. At the end of the day, I want to win games. I think last year, we saw what it would take for a selfless offense to be able to get to where we want to get to. I don’t think that we have any individuals or personalities in our offense that are saying, ‘Hey, I need this, I need that.’ I think we have a bunch of guys that are willing to put their pride aside and say, ‘What do I need to do for this team to be successful?’"

At times during the 2025 campaign, the Denver offense looked unstoppable; at other times, it looked more like a paper tiger. Sutton believes that the addition of Waddle brings a new dimension to the offense in 2026, in spite of the possibility of himself losing some catches during the season.

"I think last year was a good start and I think that we’ve added to — personality-wise and player-wise, we’ve added to that, and we’ve kept a lot of those guys as well that understand what this idea of success that we are trying to bring to this team and to this offense. The targets will come. I always say, the ball is going to find you no matter what, you just need to go out there and do your job.”
