Half of the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026 list has been unveiled this summer, which begs to question who will claim the top overall spot in the rankings determined by the league’s players, and whether or not Seattle Seahawks star Jaxon Smith-Njigba will receive such honors.

The NFL’s Grant Gordon named Smith-Njigba, who has not been ranked on the annual NFL 100 list as of yet, as one of 12 contenders that have a viable shot to claim the top spot.

“First-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler registered 119 receptions, 10 receiving touchdowns and league-high nine 100-yard games, ultimately helping lead Seahawks to Super Bowl LX victory,” Gordon said.

Smith-Njigba won the AP Offensive Player of the Year award last season. With the top offensive honor and a championship ring to show for, Smith-Njigba has a great case to be ranked No. 1 overall. His main competition for the top spot will be Los Angeles Rams quarterback and reigning AP MVP Matt Stafford, and Rams edge rusher and reigning AP Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.
