MINNEAPOLIS - Ole Miss women's basketball coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin is set to lead the Rebels in their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
The No. 5 seed Rebels (23-11) will take on No. 12 seed Gonzaga (24-9) in the first round at Williams Arena on March 20 (2:30 p.m. CT, ESPN2).
McPhee-McCuin will try to lead the Rebels to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2007. It would also be her first time coaching in that round. She is 5-5 overall in March Madness.
She has been at Ole Miss since the 2018-19 season but missed March Madness the first three years.
Under McPhee-McCuin, Ole Miss has qualified for the NCAA Tournament five times, all in consecutive years. The highest they've been seeded is No. 5.
In 2022, the No. 7 seed Rebels were knocked out in the first round by No. 10 seed South Dakota. In 2024, they were a No. 7 seed again. They beat No. 10 seed Marquette and were eliminated by No. 2 seed Notre Dame in the second round.
In 2023 and 2025, McPhee-McCuin coached Ole Miss to the Sweet 16. In 2023, the No. 8 seed Rebels beat No. 9 seed Gonzaga and No. 1 seed Stanford in the first two rounds before losing to No. 5 seed Louisville. In 2025, as a No. 5 seed, they beat No. 12 seed Ball State and No. 4 seed Baylor and fell to No. 1 seed UCLA.
Before coming to Ole Miss, McPhee-McCuin had only been to the NCAA Tournament one other time as a head coach. She coached Jacksonville to its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016. The Dolphins were a No. 16 seed and lost to No. 1 seed South Carolina 77-41 in the first round.
Ole Miss is making its 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance. The Rebels first played in the tournament in 1982 when the event debuted. The Rebels' highest-ever seed is No. 2. They were seeded there in 1985, 1986 and 1992. Their lowest seed is a No. 12 seed, which they were in 1995.
They've made 12 appearances in the Sweet 16 and five in the Elite Eight. Ole Miss has never been to the Final Four or won an NCAA championship.
