Ole Miss women's basketball coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin shared a message of support for one one of the program's most accomplished players on July 27.
Former Ole Miss player Armintie Price Herrington revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
"As I go through this next test in my life of being diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I have learned I am not alone," she wrote on X. "Others have overcome, beat this! I am next! God is giving me another testimony. Thank you all for your prayers and stories of victory! I Believe God! #grateful4village"
McPhee-McCuin responded with a post of her own, letting Herrington know that the program was behind her.
"Coach your Ole Miss family will continue to lift you up in prayer! The battle is not yours but we will fight alongside you every step of the way."
Herrington played at Ole Miss from 2004-07. She was a three-time All-SEC player and a two-time Defensive Player of the Year. She was the leader of the 2006-07 team that went to the Elite Eight for the first and only time in program history.
She was selected No. 3 overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2007 WNBA Draft. She won Rookie of the Year that season and made the WNBA All-Defensive team three times. Her playing career ended in 2015 after playing for the Sky, Atlanta Dream, Los Angeles Sparks and Washington Mystics.
Herrington joined Ole Miss' coaching staff in 2009, serving under Renee Ladner until 2012. She rejoined the Rebels' staff when McPhee-McCuin was hired in 2018 and ended her second stint in 2022.
