The momentum of college recruiting swings back and forth faster than any other professional sport under the sun. Earlier this week, Clemson looked like it was in a strong position for four-star linebacker Sean Fox. Multiple predictions rolled in for the Tigers, giving Dabo Swinney’s staff a promising sign in the race for the 2027 Warren Central standout.
The trend is different now as he is bound for Kentucky, with multiple analysts and insiders moving their predictions to the Wildcats. According to Chris Beasmore, Tiger Illustrated’s Paul Strelow, On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Greg Smith, and Clemson 247’s Cory Fravel all shifted their picks toward Kentucky after Clemson appeared to have momentum.
Fox is not a small miss if this recruitment goes Kentucky’s way. He is listed at 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds and is rated as a four-star linebacker. In the 247Sports Composite, Fox carries a 90.37 rating and is ranked as the No. 257 player nationally and the No. 24 linebacker in the 2027 class.
Clemson entered the race after hosting Fox at its Elite Retreat in March, and for a moment, it looked like the Tigers may have made a serious push. Notre Dame and Georgia also got involved after unofficial visits, while Kentucky had been one of the earlier major programs to make him a priority.
Never say die until it’s over, but after the recent wave of predictions, Kentucky might have just pulled Clemson’s linebacker target from the jaws of capture.
