Even after making a blockbuster trade for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle last month, the Denver Broncos continue to do their homework on mid- and late-round receiver prospects ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.

Last month, the team had a virtual meeting with Mississippi State wide receiver Brenen Thompson, according to the Denver Post's Luca Evans. Thompson (5-9, 164 pounds) ran a blazing-fast 40-yard dash in 4.26 seconds at the NFL combine after hauling in 57 receptions for 1,054 yards and six touchdowns last fall. NFL.com has him projected as a third- or fourth-round prospect.

Denver also had virtual meetings with Texas Tech’s Caleb Douglas (6-3, 206 pounds), Baylor receiver/returner Josh Cameron (6-1, 220 pounds), Cincinnati’s Cyrus Allen (5-11, 180 pounds), Michigan’s Donaven McCulley (6-4, 203 pounds) and Miami's CJ Daniels (6-2, 202 pounds), who also had an in-person meeting with the Broncos at his pro day. Those five receivers are all considered late-round prospects.

Broncos WR meetings

  • Mississippi State WR Brenen Thompson (virtual)
  • Miami WR CJ Daniels (virtual + pro day)
  • Texas Tech WR Caleb Douglas (virtual)
  • Baylor WR Josh Cameron (virtual)
  • Cincinnati WR Cyrus Allen (virtual)
  • Michigan WR Donaven McCulley (virtual)

Following the Waddle trade, the Broncos now hold seven picks in the 2026 NFL draft, which will be held in Pittsburgh from April 23-25.
