The Denver Broncos continued organized team activities (OTAs) on Thursday with their first practice of the spring that was open to media members.

The big storyline on the injury front was quarterback Bo Nix (ankle) not practicing, but coach Sean Payton indicated Nix will practice when the team holds a mandatory minicamp later this month. Broncos backup lineman Nick Gargiulo (knee) also remains sidelined, and five other players did not practice, either.

Now, some good news: five players who ended last season on injured reserve were back at practice, as was confirmed by KUSA-TV's Mike Klis. Those players were running back J.K. Dobbins (foot), offensive lineman Matt Peart (knee), outside linebacker Johnny Walker (lower body), linebacker Drew Sanders (foot) and safety Brandon Jones (pectoral).

  5. OLB Johnny Walker (lower body)

The Broncos will be back on the field next week with a second round of OTAs (June 9-11). After that, the club will hold a mandatory minicamp the following week (June 16-18). Payton said the team has had 100% attendance this spring, but not everyone has had the same level of participation. Overall, Denver's in pretty good health going into the summer.
