The Denver Broncos wrapped up their first week of organized team activities (OTAs) on Thursday with their third practice, which was the first session open to media members.
The big story, of course, is quarterback Bo Nix, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs last season. Nix did not participate in Thursday's practice, according to media members in attendance.
Nix was off to the side, walking around and occasionally tossing a football. He "looked fine," according to the Denver Post's Luca Evans. After practice, coach Sean Payton said Nix did some pre-practice throwing and is on track to participate in mandatory minicamp later this month.
Nix and the Broncos originally said the quarterback would be back in time for OTAs, but his estimated full-speed return was pushed back to training camp after Nix underwent a clean-up ankle surgery in April.
Denver will hold a second week of OTAs with practices scheduled from June 9-11 next week. After that, the Broncos will hold a mandatory minicamp from June 16-18. Nix and his teammates will then get a summer break until training camp, which typically begins in late July. The QB's status will be the story to follow this summer.

Day 3 of #Broncos OTAs is wrapped, open to media. Major takeaway: Bo Nix wasn’t practicing, but was out walking around + throwing occasionally off to side. Looked fine.
