Jan. 20—JAMESTOWN — If you would have walked into Jerry Meyer Arena on Tuesday night, you would have thought the Jamestown High School girl's basketball team was hosting a clinic on how to shoot 3-pointers.

The Blue Jays picked up conference win No. 2 on Tuesday evening, easily dispatching Minot North 90-61. Head coach Andy Skunberg and his team is now 2-5 in the West Region standings. Jamestown will be back at Jerry Meyer Arena on Friday hosting Dickinson. Tip off time is slated for 5:45 p.m.

The Blue Jays were ringing 3s in the first half, notching 10 from beyond the arc. The team's hot shooting translated to a 50-37 lead at the halfway point. Milan Martin was leading the home team's offensive efforts with 14 points while Mea Ulland tallied 12 points — all by way of 3-point shots.

"We have our streaks," Skunberg said. "Shooting is infectious. You see a couple go in and everybody wants to join the party and everybody did tonight. That was fun to watch and hopefully that brings confidence moving forward to Friday."

Haley Attleson and Macey Neumiller also cracked into double digits both with 11 points. Neumiller and Martin were both 4-for-4 at the foul line in the first half.

Cambree Phillips was the name for Minot North in the first half, tallying 13 points.

Martin's juices kept flowing into the second half.

The 5-foot-9 junior drained two more 3-point shots to put her point total at 20 and made it 61-39 on the scoreboard with 14:30 left to play. Martin is in her second year playing at the varsity level.

"She was feeling it," Skunberg said. "She can get on a roll like that and it's fun to see. She's really been coming on the last four or five games. We know she can get hot — she's just like the rest of them. When she has confidence in herself she does well."

Martin finished the game with 24 points. Ulland finished her game with 18 points while Neumiller capped off her night with 14 scored. Of the team's 90 points, 60 were scored by way of 3-pointers.

"We took what the defense gave us," Skunberg said. "We did a good job of driving and kicking and giving ourselves open looks and when we get open looks we do a good job of setting our feet to make a lot (of shots). It was a good team effort on driving — a lot of second-chance opportunities — we did a good job at rebounding tonight, got a lot of kick-outs and got some points that way too."

Jamestown's dominance on the hardwood was nice to see after suffering a tough 57-55 loss to Bismarck Legacy on Jan. 17. Skunberg said he hopes the Jays' performance against the Sentinels will instill some confidence among the girls and prepare them for the last six weeks of the regular season.

"We just need to move forward and worry about our next game," Skunberg said. "Can't worry about the past — same goes for tonight, enjoy this one then move on and get ready for Dickinson."
