Jan. 9—JAMESTOWN — If the Jamestown High School girl's basketball team gets locked in, other teams tend to be in trouble.

At least, that's what happened on Friday.

The Blue Jays picked up their first conference win on Friday night, handing Bismarck High its third loss of the season. The Jays are now 1-4 in the WDA and 3-5 overall. Bismarck High dropped to 2-3 in the West Region and 5-3 overall. Jamestown will be back in action on Jan. 16 at Williston. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.

"I was really proud of how our girls stayed locked in defensively from start to finish," JHS head coach Andy Skunberg said. "Their team defense was strong for the full 36 minutes, and they trusted each other in big moments. Down the stretch, they knocked down key free throws that helped seal the win."

As a team, the Jays went 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Macey Neumiller, the Jays' leading scorer with 15 points, went a perfect 6-of-6 from the line. Claire Marker and Hannah Attleson were also both perfect on foul shots going 2-for-2. Marker was the team's leading rebounder, nabbing a total of 14 boards. Attleson recorded five rebounds.

All of Mea Ulland's points came from beyond the arc. The senior notched three 3-pointers. Milan Martin had her best performance of the season with 13 total points.
