SPRING MILLS, Pa. – Bishop McCort Catholic has created a high school wrestling dynasty in a short timeframe.

Saturday evening, the Crimson Crushers came away with their third straight District 6 Class 2A team title by topping host Penns Valley 55-13.

Bishop McCort made the finals by walloping Huntingdon 57-9 in the semifinals.

"We know that in order to win a District 6 title, you got to come through either a Penns Valley, Huntingdon or Bald Eagle Area. We prepare for them," Crimson Crushers coach Bill Bassett said. "We're right back to work tomorrow, planning for state duals. After that's over, we're right back ready for next year again. We're gonna get right back in there. We enjoy coming up here because there's some really strong wrestling roots here."

The finals began with Bishop McCort taking the first four bouts with bonus points.

Emory Gunby recorded a 17-2 technical fall in 2:31 at 189 pounds. Marquez Gordon and Pitt signee Caleb Rodriguez had back-to-back falls. Ethan Cotchen shut out the Rams' Caden Myers 11-0 at 107, to make it 21-0 early.

After giving up a forfeit at 114 pounds, the Crimson Crushers got a 21-3 technical fall from Keegan Bassett.

Penns Valley got a pair of victories to get within 26-13, but those were the Rams' last wins of the night.

Bishop McCort closed the dual out with five straight bonus-point victories.

Virginia Tech recruit Owen McMullen collected a fall in 3:53 at 139 pounds. Bo Bassett, another Virginia Tech signee and two-time state champion, followed with an 18-2 tech fall in 49 seconds.

Maryland signee Jackson Butler flattened his opponent in one minute. Melvin Miller, a Virginia Tech commit, needed just 43 seconds to collect a fall. CJ Pansiero received a forfeit to close out the dual.

The Crimson Crushers will face the winner of McGuffey (District 7) or General McLane (District 10) Tuesday at home.

"We had some stuff come up. We had some kids that left for college early, which we're 100% for," Bassett said of the win and season. "Anytime a kid gets an opportunity like Jax (Forrest) did, we're all about it. We had some big injuries to some really good kids. The beauty of it all is our program is super deep. It's the next-man-up type of mindset."

The PIAA quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be held at 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown Feb. 6 and 7.
