The Cincinnati Bengals were big spenders in free agency well before OTAs.
Highlights for the Bengals included signing safety Bryan Cook and edge rusher Boye Mafe before making that big Dexter Lawrence trade. Don’t forget Jonathan Allen, Kyler Dugger and Ja'Sir Taylor, either.
But much of the Bengals’ work centered on retaining their own free agents, too, such as Joe Flacco, Cody Ford, Dalton Risner and Jalen Davis, to name a few.
With that, there are just a few Bengals free agents left standing on the open market, per Over the Cap.
Asamoah joined the Bengals’ practice squad in October of last year and was promoted to the active roster in November. He had some special teams work before a knee injury and going to injured reserve.
Matt Lee’s release was an odd story. The 2024 seventh-round pick appears to have some long-term upside, at least as a backup. But they waived him in early April. The Bengals then drafted Brian Parker and Connor Lew.
Kirkland was another one of those late-process favorites. Undrafted in 2023, Kirkland bounced around from the practice squad to even the initial roster in 2024 before suffering an injury.
