Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers may have left the days of dominating the NFC North behind him, but his rivalry with the Chicago Bears may have received new life, courtesy of quarterback Caleb Williams.
During his appearance at the EA Sports’ Opening Drive event as the Madden 27 cover athlete, Williams was asked to weigh in on the greatest quarterback of all-time debate — and he made it clear that it's Tom Brady, then Rodgers.
“I mean, Brady,” Williams said via Heavy Sports. “When you go seven Super Bowls it’s hard to...there’s not anybody close. And so it gets hard to debate that. I put Brady as number one, and for me, Aaron Rodgers is probably number two.”
Williams' comment about there not being “anybody close” to Brady's level falls a little flat, as Rodgers' four MVP awards hold tremendous value in the league. In fact, Rodgers was regarded by Williams' GOAT, Brady, as the “greatest passer of the football the league's ever seen.”
While it's still a compliment to be regarded as the second-best quarterback to ever play in the league, Williams only added another layer to the Rodgers-Brady debate with his clear stance at the EA Sports event. But who could blame Chicago's franchise signal-caller for not choosing the quarterback who owned the Bears for almost two decades?
