For me, it's more about the disappointment. It wasn't supposed to end this way.

Prior to the injury, Sam Leavitt was expected to go pro at the end of the season. I wish him well. Lots of great memories.
Yeah, it's probably for the best. It allows ASU to move on to developing someone else. And I really do believe he has topped out in terms of his potential and is going to be significantly less effective post Lisfranc surgery.

IMO, Leavitt will struggle a bit wherever he lands. He'll not be ready for spring ball and his injury is no joke and he'll probably still be tentative for most of 2026.

Recovery Timeline & Stages for lisfranc surgery recovery:
  • 0-2 Weeks:
    Non-weight-bearing, in a cast/boot, managing pain/swelling.

  • 2-8 Weeks:
Transition to a walking boot, partial weight-bearing starts, gentle movement.

    • 8-12 Weeks (3 Months):
Progress to light strengthening, walking in stiff-soled shoes (maybe with support).
    • 3-6 Months:
Full weight-bearing, progressive rehab for strength/mobility, avoiding high impact.
    • 6-12 Months (or more):
Gradual return to sports/high-impact activities, with full recovery often taking a year or longer.

Kenny Dillingham on the state of Sam Leavitt, state of college football and the Sun Bowl.

Leavitt really may not be all that great a loss. He has never been very adept as a dropback QB, and his skills as a scrambler are likely to be diminished by his foot injury. I would be very surprised if he flourishes wherever he ends up or ever sees the field in the NFL.
lol. This is where we are now? The jilted lover stage? I can only laugh.

Did you watch Leavitt this year? With no Cam and the offense centered on him, he did not look very good, even prior to the injury. There are a lot of holes in his game.

I'm following this about Kenny Dillingham. Michigan rumors are flying around.

Losing Dilly would be crushing. I don't know how the program recovers long term. Might as well separate the haves and have-nots into different divisions.

Are these even legitimate rumors? I read the Detroit news, CBS and ESPN and Dillingham was never mentioned. And, compared to the names being mentioned I can't imagine he is secretly at the top of their list. Personally, I think Michigan fans would melt down if they hired Dillingham.

Again I’m laughing. The only reason they won some of those games was because of him. But I get it. Gotta be mad and find warts on the guy that doesn’t want you.

It is ALL over the internet. Had heard jedd fisch as well. But this is kind of what I said would happen.

DeBoer is #1, and Dilly is seen as the 2nd option. Betting sites had to halt odds on Kenny due to surge in wagers on him.

I tried tracking down the rumors. This might have been where some of them started.

It doesn't help when normally reliable Sun Devil sources give rumors oxygen without substantiation.

Ok, weird he wasn't mentioned in the couple of stories I read. I would be surprised if he is the guy.

There’s a rumor that Deboer has already declined the offer.

There’s another rumor that Dilly initiated the call to Michigan and that they’re already in negotiations.

However, This feels like one of those job situations in which there are three “hot” names at the start of the process, and then none of them end up being the guy in the end.

Not mad and not looking for warts that aren't as plain as the end of anyone's nose. If you can't see that Leavitt struggles as a dropback passer, I don't know what to tell you.

His primary skills are running and passing out of a scramble, and he's likely to have trouble with that if he doesn't make an A+ recovery from foot surgery. And Lisfranc injuries are historically difficult to comeback from at top mobility.

But hey, let's reconvene in two years and see who is more correct, okay?

A few guys would have to say no first before Dillingham would enter the picture in Michigan. Especially when his dream job (Cardinals) is probably opening up in a few weeks.

Today’s practice has apparently been moved from 9a to 1045a. Not sure if this means anything given the cancelled practice recently but teams don’t usually mess with practice times

It’s not about being a drop back passer. You were ecstatic when he was here and winning for you, regardless of how he achieved the success and now that he’s gone he stunk. I just find that funny.

Who cares what he’s doing in two years? That’s not the point. The point is he won’t be doing it at asu next year and that would’ve given this team the best chance to win. Or do you expect that dilly will have a BETTER QB next season? More than willing to reconvene then on that note.

This interesting . . . cardinals a dream job for dilly? Is this based on anything or just nfl + the valley?
