Kenny wants the Cardinals job and/or fat raises for his assistants and a GM to take some work off his plate. Michigan rumors floating around help those causes.

Kenny wants to be a legendary ASU coach like Frank Kush. He wants to be the head coach of the ASU Sun Devils. He also does want ASU to take care of him, his assistants, his players, etc. while he is here. Smart to hem and haw even if you don't want to leave if it gets some benefits for his staff and team.

They are and unless Crow seriously fumblefucks this, Kenny will be here for some time. But don't underestimate Crow. He made promises now let's see if his word is worthwhile.

I'll just say this: The money and the contract length aren't going to be anywhere near what Michigan can offer. ABOR can only authorize 5 years on a contract, and Michigan can offer 7 years with roughly $4 million more annually along with 4-5x the NIL budget + a general manager. We saw this with Jedd Fisch at Arizona with the only real sticking point being the length of the contract. The ABOR is completely useless IMO

I still have reservation that it gets done because I think there's a name ahead of Dilly's, but if an offer goes to Dilly, his loyalty to his alma mater will be tested.

The money to Kenny will be in the ballpark... however, that is not his #1 focus. Kenny is extremely focused on the money that should be committed to the entire football operations. The entire apparatus that surrounds and supports the program. If Crow can somehow demonstrate a willingness to commit the $$ in that way, Kenny's contract becomes secondary. And yes, there is significant cause for concern that Crow will fall short in this way...

Not at all suggesting ASU needs to go "toe to toe" with "football schools," if you are suggesting those schools are Michigan, Ohio State, Bama, Notre Dame, Penn State...

ASU needs to go "toe to toe" with the likes of BYU and Texas Tech. And I believe they have the ability to do so...though, I'm not at all confident Crow will make that commitment.

In terms of money to Kenny... Moore was making just over $5m a year. Kenny's total pay this season will be in excess of $7m (combined salary and bonuses). So yea, ASU is in the ballpark. But again - that's secondary to the broader commitment Crow is either willing, or not, to make to the program.

Crow stepped up and agreed to invest in the program beyond Kenny. I seriously didn’t think he’d do it. This is likely the single most impactful event in the history of this program. Retaining Kenny was a must… but, that wasn’t gonna happen unless Crow decided to put the entirety of the program at the highest levels of the Big 12 and therefore, at the top echelon of the college football universe. Remarkable really…
