Those Rams coaches with 10-plus seasons totaled 185 years, the 49ers 191 and the Seahawks 163. Meanwhile, the combined Arizona staff of 17 coaches had only 91 years of NFL experience and had three coaches in their first season: offensive line coach Justin Frye, defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere and defensive quality control coach Alec Osborne.

This is the 9th season for Sean McVey and Kyle Shanahan, so of course most of their coaches will have more experience. The Seahawks have 7 coaches with 3 or less years of experience. Funny how that works for a new coach building his own staff. 83 of the 163 years for the Seahawks come from three coaches too. That means they have 80 years combined from the rest of the staff of about 18.

This is the 9th season for Sean McVey and Kyle Shanahan, so of course most of their coaches will have more experience. The Seahawks have 7 coaches with 3 or less years of experience. Funny how that works for a new coach building his own staff. 83 of the 163 years for the Seahawks come from three coaches too. That means they have 80 years combined from the rest of the staff of about 18.

While that may be silly, what is not at all silly is that the Cards now have an insanely inexperienced staff, on the cheap, with less coaches than others in the league. Or you could call this situation itself silly, but words like pathetic, unacceptable, and others fit the bill more. the dollar bill.

I think it’s fine to have multiple relatively inexperienced pro coaches. I don’t like the idea of that description fitting most of them. I’m also concerned with adding them to the retained coaches who struggled last season. So much for mentoring. It’s especially tricky when they’re working under a rookie coach. Its not a disaster, but it’s an unnecessary risk. It also makes you question if AZ invested the money needed to get the best available guys.

I looked up Pete Kwiatkowski...and he was earning just under $2 million/year ($1.9 his last season) as DC of Texas. Would he come to NFL as a position coach to earn significantly less?

Edit to add: According to Front Office Sports, NFL DL coaches earn less than $500k/year on average.

We aren’t really the Cards’ target market tho. The Cards (probably) want a robust base of season ticket holders and a locked-in base of suite/casa rojo/club seat owners.

They’ve effectively poisoned the well water on the former; the latter is more about secular economics than the quality of the team, I think.

He actually got fired. I thought his defense played well at the beginning of the season, but it struggled later, and definitely had the players to be a dominate defense.

I still doubt he jumps on a $500k, or less NFL gig right away, when he could just wait for another college job that pays way more to open up...Unless he's being paid significantly higher than NFL average for a DL coach.

This is a good point... But the article also compared the Cards' new staff with those of the Ravens, Bills, and Dolphins, and the Cardinals came up way short.

Bills kept most of thier existing staff with the promotion of Brady. The Ravens replaced their QB Coach with our previous QB Coach, who's experience was all with Cardinals in Israel Woolfork. Not a gleaming review. Jesse MInter also hired his 70 year old father who comes with more experience than half the staff combined.
