We continue the countdown to the start of the Arizona Cardinals' regular season. Today, Friday, July 24, is 51 days away from the Arizona Cardinals' regular-season opener on Sept. 13 on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With 51 days until Week 1, let's look back at the 1951 season for the Cardinals.
The 1951 season wasn't very good. They finished in last place in their division, going 3-9. After starting 1-1, they dropped five straight games. They averaged only 17.5 points per game, which was 10th in the league out of 12 teams, and they gave up 23.9 per game.
The Cardinals had three Pro Bowlers for the 1951 season.
Polsfoot and Fischer were also second-team All-Pros.
Charley Trippi started seven games at quarterback and led the team with 1,191 passing yards, eight touchdown passes, and he threw 13 interceptions. Jim Hardy started four and passed for 809 yards three touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Trippi's 501 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns led the team.
Polsfoot had 57 receptions for 796 yards and four scores.
Safety S.J. Whitman had seven defensive interceptions. Safety Ray Ramsey had five.
