The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Tennessee Lady Volunteers in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Thursday night by a final score of 76-64.

Alabama entered the matchup following a first round victory over Missouri, as the Tide were able to stay hot on the offensive end of the floor despite playing on back-to-back nights. Star guard Jessica Timmons was nothing short of elite in the win, as Timmons recorded an impressive 12 points in just 11 minutes of play in the first half.

Here are three takeaways from Alabama’s SEC Tournament victory over Tennessee.

Jessica Timmons bounces back, records 23 points​


Timmons has struggled on the offensive end of the floor as of late. The star senior was able to bounce back in authoritative fashion against Tennessee, as Timmons recorded 23 total points on 8-of-16 shooting.

Timmons has played a massive role on a nightly basis throughout her final season in Tuscaloosa, as the superstar playmaker was excellent against the Lady Vols following a string of underwhelming performances.

Ta’Mia Scott continues to dominate offensively, records 20 points​


Scott has played a critical role this season as the Tide’s second option on offense behind Timmons. The talented senior recorded 20 points in 34 minutes of play on Thursday night, as Scott continues to stay red hot throughout the second half of SEC play.

Scott will undoubtedly need to stay hot against Texas on Friday, as the star guard continues to shine throughout the SEC Tournament in Greenville.

The Tide were red hot from all over the court in Nashville on Thursday evening. Timmons was credited with three three-pointers, as Alabama as a team shot an extremely impressive 33% from behind the arc as well.

Timmons and the Tide will look to keep things rolling against Texas on Friday, as Alabama was excellent on the offensive end of the floor against Tennessee.

Alabama will face the Texas Longhorns in the quarterfinal on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. CT, as the Tide will look to keep things rolling in the SEC Tournament.
