I think Bo Nix is the true exception. If you can't get an insanely great defense to go with your Trent Dilfer, it's never going to work. That's not a plausible path. I've already covered the other two. But, hey, if you really believe in de-valuing the QB position so much, more power to you. It's not for me.
They’re the #5 defense in yards and #6 defense in points. They have played 10 games tho. I’ll need to check the rate stats.

The Jets went from a last place team to a last place team except now they own the next two drafts. You’d be in the minority of not liking what they did.

I get what you are saying. However it's the JETS.

They tried this in 2021 when they loaded up on 1st round picks. Then in 2022 they used those picks and drafted 4 players in the top 36 overall:

Sauce Gardner
Garrett Wilson
Jermaine Johnson
Breece Hall

How did that work out for them last time? They traded Gardner already. They also traded former 2019 1st rounder Quinnen Williams. They will probably lose Breece Hall at the beginning of FA next year.

Let not forget they traded former 2017 1st rounder Jamal Adams to Seattle. They traded former 2018 first rounder Sam Darnold to the Panthers who eventually had a resurgence in Minnesota and Seattle. They let former 2020 1st rounder Mekhi Becton walk who was picked up by the Eagles last season and excelled for them.

How long will it be before they trade or cut the 2026 and 2027 1st round players they select because that is how the Jets operate?

I just wanted this noted on the books.

1 - Monti and Gannon will be back.

2 - Petzing and Kyler will be gone.

3 - Bidwill will not allow Monti to use his 2027 1st rounder to trade up for a QB in 2026.

4 - The Cardinals will not use a 2026 1st round pick on a QB.

5 - Brissett will be the starting QB week 1.

1. Agree

2. I think Petzing will be back too, although this really rather depends on the rest of the season. But are they going to fire an OC that had to work with what he has at QB and lost his starting RB for the season and backup for a chunk? I wouldn't think so.

3. Disagree. I don't think Mike interferes in football ops this way. I know he's there and likes to be part of the conversation but he's not dictating what happens. There was no evidence of that in all the moves we made in the 2024 draft. And I don't think Monti or Gannon would stand for it if there was a guy they want.

4. I don't think there's any systemic reason they won't. I think they will watch all QB's, decide who they like, and whether they pick a QB or not will come down to opportunity and opportunity cost, as always.

5. I do think the odds of this are fairly high depending on how the rest of the year goes because I think they like and trust him, and he's currently playing well. And if they do draft a QB, it won't be to start immediately. This also lends itself to Petzing remaining.

6. I will add that I think there will be other coaching changes. O line coach is a strong contender. If drafting a QB then possibly a more experience QB coach. Likely others.

Kinda hope #3 is correct. I wouldn’t be opposed to trading McBride for future assets if they’re prime picks. Everything depends on getting a QB in 27’. The next 18 months are going to be rough but we know Bidwill isn’t paying three different regimes.
So trade McBride, the best Tight end in football for a chance to draft more Darius Robinsons and MHJ?

Pass.

Start drafting better, you should never be in the position to have to trade away your only good marketable player to gamble on what will likely be bad draft picks. McBride is a proven star, you hold onto guys like that.

They said the same thing about MHJ lol

Well there have been some disappointing moments I generally think the drops thing is overblown.

He had 4.3% drop rate last year and 6.5% this year. His aDot is around 13 yards both seasons, so he's seeing a lot of tougher deep catches.

For comparison Ja'Marr Chase was 8.6% and 8.2% drop rate his first 2 seasons with an average aDot around 11. Marv is a little high I would say, on average, for receivers starting out in the league, but nothing crazy.

Yeah, but by year two, Ja’Marr Chase had 127 catches almost 1800 yards and 17 touchdowns to help offset a few drops… If MHJ was going out there and performing like that, nobody would care. But he’s not.

Wherever that 4.3% drop rate for last year came from, we all know it's bogus. We watched him drop WAY more easily catchable passes than was reflected in the official number that was recorded last year.

And his drops this year have been even more numerous and egregious. The son of a HOF WR doesn't know how to use his hands to catch the damned ball.

How many targets does a guy need in order to get 127 catches?
On target of course,..uncatchables don't really count.

Did Marv even get 127 catchable targets?

While I do agree with your point....

Marv was more limited in catchable balls than people think...as fans, "if you can get your hands on it you can catch it" ...but in reality that isn't always true... I've seen marv get both hands on a "back shoulder" pass that was 2 yards behind and thrown at his ankles...it was a hell of an accomplishment just to twist the body back there and get hands on the ball...but not making the catch was just a shame...because it would have been a legendary catch... in no way should it count as a drop..
I think the guys who count those stats look at ball placement...and don't penalize guys for crap accuracy...or don't penalize them for failing to make an amazing catch from a poor or well defended pass.
