Roster at 91

The journey as an Arizona Cardinal has ended for Bernhard Seikovits.

The Austrian tight end, who joined the Cardinals as part of the NFL's international player pathway program, was released on Tuesday as the team organizes its roster post-draft.

The Cardinals also released offensive lineman Matthew Jones, leaving just six players named Jones on the roster.

The moves bring the Cardinals roster once everyone is signed to 91, one more than the limit of 90. Seikovits, with an international exemption, had qualified as No. 91; the Cardinals are able to use the international exemption on incoming undrafted rookie tackle Valentin Senn, who coincidentally also is from Austria.

I liked Jonathan Gannon taking a hold of the steering wheel and upgrading this defense in the interior (as well as pairing Nolen with the exemplary Calais Campbell). The Cards were objectively the 17th best team last season (based on picking 16th in the draft). By all accounts, they added a LOT more talent in free agency than they lost. Every team thinks it will improve based on draft picks, but the Cardinals further addressed their glaring weaknesses on D with two very highly regarded picks expected to contribute immediately.

The Cardinals had the 5th hardest schedule in 2024, and have the 27th hardest schedule in 2025. They were 3-5 in one-score games in 2024, so regression favors them in 2025. They had the 7th most "adjusted games lost" to injuries in 2024, and are relatively young going into 2025, so regression should favor them there as well.

The biggest question mark concerning the team is the QB, but that's no different from last season.

I’m suspect the Rams, Hawks and 49ers have similar schedules, right? Unless two of them take a turn for the worse it’ll be a tough road to wiggle our way into a playoff spot.

I agree. The Cardinals are poised to make a good jump and the power rankings will probably look pretty silly after next season.

Front seven has pretty strong depth and that was the Cardinals greatest weakness last year. I think the front seven my even be a strength this season

This ranking says to me that they don't have any confidence in our offense

History is causing a distinct case of a lack of respect. If the offense can avoid serious injuries, these questionable ranking will get corrected. This should be a playoff team.

Rams 17th (.491), Seahawks 21st (.474), Cards 28th (.457), 49ers 32nd (.415).

Not only did the Cardinals have one of THE most difficult schedules, but the lack of depth killed them when the injuries happened, especially on the OL. I mean by the end of the season Hernandez, Paris, and Jonah Williams were all gone.

I am optimistic, but realistic. The playoffs are possible; the Super Bowl is not.
