Well if this Twitter guy I’ve never heard of is saying it…Paris Johnson Jr. is quietly one of the best left tackles in the NFL

Haters gonna hate. Paris is a good player.Well if this Twitter guy I’ve never heard of is saying it…
I agree. He’s a good player. He’s a good teammate and leader.Haters gonna hate. Paris is a good player.
Completely and totally debatable. We still screwed up the selection.
Completely and totally debatable.
So…Well I mean compare the records, playoff appearances, awards, etc., etc.
But a couple of tweets are also really solid. Teach the controversy, I say.
The facts are what they are. This is a worse argument for Paris than some tweets. So…
What is the statistical correlation between the play of the blindside tackle and records, playoff appearances, awards, etc., etc.?
What is the statistical correlation between the play of one single player and records, playoff appearances, awards, etc., etc. for the entire team?
Love that you just make up stuff and present it as facts to debunk other opinions.
We still screwed up the selection.
Yes obviously it wasn’t a catastrophe but a left tackle only needs to be good enough. A pass rusher needs to be really good.broad comparison:
arguably the Cards screwed up the selection of Larry Fitzgerald -- they could have taken either Roethlisberger or Philip Rivers.
but if you are going to screw up a selection -- at least get a really good player out of it.
That same draft, the Raiders had a chance at all three of those players and took Robert Gallery. That is REALLY screwing up a pick
I wanted Roethlisberger, but am happy with Fitz.broad comparison:

Eh, nothing about him screams all pro. He's a solid LT for sure, but not a Big John.I like Paris Johnson and think he'll be an all pro one day. So, it's hard to argue that pick especially when it looked like we'd have 2 top 5 picks the following year with the trade.
That said, I still would've taken Anderson.
What do you see wrong with his game.? He's only going to get better and is already trending toward a top LT.Eh, nothing about him screams all pro. He's a solid LT for sure, but not a Big John.
National writers say he’s not particularly physical and doesn’t move people in the run game as much as you’d like in a top tackle. Don’t kill the messenger. What do you see wrong with his game.? He's only going to get better and is already trending toward a top LT.
Big, athletic, motivated and great feet.
He's going to be a top 5 LT. Might already be.
And he’d probably be better with a better player than Evan Brown next to him. He strikes me as a guy who could make three pro bowls in a 12 year career. He’d have to play on better teams than this one for that to happen.strange thing is I remember his rookie year at RT, he blew people up in the run game.
Not to make this a Kyler thread but I think he'd be even better anchoring the left side with a QB that spends more time in the pocket.
Plus, to be a Big John, it's not enough to say he's just not a bad player; he has to be elite, and he is not.National writers say he’s not particularly physical and doesn’t move people in the run game as much as you’d like in a top tackle. Don’t kill the messenger.
I think it’s exceptionally hard to distinguish among OTs who are not hall of famers and those who are slightly better than The Captain was.
The value of hindsight. JMO, but I think , at the time you do what Monti did.I like Paris Johnson and think he'll be an all pro one day. So, it's hard to argue that pick especially when it looked like we'd have 2 top 5 picks the following year with the trade.

He's on his way. Most OTs earn their rep over time but there are guys who are dominant from day 1, like Joe Thomas and his short arms, lol.Plus, to be a Big John, it's not enough to say he's just not a bad player; he has to be elite, and he is not.
Yes, hindsight. Paris and Robinson vs. Anderson. The value of hindsight. JMO, but I think , at the time you do what Monti did.
No there are not. You are making it up and claiming a butterfly effect that you have zero facts to show a correlation. The facts are what they are. This is a worse argument for Paris than some tweets.
