Weight is more than a number. Its an insight to someone's mind, whether they have or dont have a lot of things; drive, self-control, mental fortitude, determination, etc.

We need lob threats. Running the floor and lobs are the new offensive dirt workers.
If you don't have the discipline to be in shape as an 18-22 year old, with the promise of millions of dollars down the road, that's a major red flag.

Another player that caught my attention is Adou Thiero SF/PF.

I like those athletic big men that can drive and finish.

Barkley was a slob, many would describe Jokic as a slob, Boogie Cousins too.

It is not a death sentence by any means.

Not even close, prime Chuck was ripped.

Prime Chuck was like 2 years. He was fat when he came into the league and when he left. He was remarkable when he arrived here but the best thing that happened was the Dream Team and his friendship with MJ whipping him into shape. Unfortunately injuries caught up to him but some of those injuries were likely due to how he didn't take care of himself but still played all out.

For anyone not familiar with Maluach, this is a great scouting video. It's 15 minutes and definitely not a mixtape sort of highlight package. It's a good scouting breakdown that examines various parts of his game, primarily his defense. I see a Tyson Chandler type big in terms of defensive presence who can be coached up to be a potential All-Defensive team candidate. Of course he may not pan out but the potential he does have could give us a defensive anchor behind a great pair of wing defenders in Dunn and Brooks. Stability and continuity at C for the next decade. Rebounding needs to improve but he's apparently very coachable, which makes it less risky IMO. He has an NBA body already at 19 years old, turns 20 in September. He is 7'0.75" without shoes, 9'6" standing reach, 7'6.75" wingspan and 253 lbs. I did have questions about his conditioning since he's only averaged 21 mpg. That could be due to matchup to some extent as well.

He's not super raw but I think his floor is somewhere between Alex Len & Mo Bamba but his ceiling is incredibly high based on what he possess already in terms of size, strength, athleticism, coachability, and mechanics. He has a jump shot but he's like the 5th option at Duke so he doesn't shoot much. He's a lob threat with shooting range and good form, 76% FT shooter. The video says he's most like Mark Williams (Charlotte) with shades of Brook Lopez which is fair. A project who could be a long term starter.

I would be afraid to draft any playmaking point guard, because I believe that the reason Tyus Jones failed is mostly because all three Suns stars refused to cooperate with him. Without the apparently forceful leadership of Chris Paul, Jones couldn't run the offense.

Barkley was a slob with unworldly athleticism. Queen is not that.

Jokic is a unicorn. Queen is not that.

Cousins might be the closest comp but he played in a different time and was two inches taller than queen.

Nah I think jones was what he was, a subpar pg as a floor general. Book has been impactful alongside Paul and Beal was impactful alongside wall. A good pg would be able to play with those guys.

If they stay at 10 my guess it will be either Sorber or Queen.

I hope they snag either Rocco Zikarsky or Hansen Yang as a boom/bust project later in the draft.

I'm not getting the Carter Bryant love. I admittedly didn't watch any UofA games, but his stats are not impressive for someone people are hyping as a dynamic lottery pick.

Yeah, I like the two sleepers you mention. I hope the Suns are on them.

I like Derik Queen. Hope he is the pick.

Derik Queen, C, Maryland

Height: 6-9¼ | Age: 20.4 | TS%: 60.0 | PR: 13

Strengths:
Queen is the most skilled big man in this draft. His ability to create shots facing the basket, pass and use his frame in the post makes him a significant mismatch.

Weaknesses: He lacks length and explosiveness for an NBA center and struggles with poor conditioning, which makes his upside defensively unclear. He will need to develop his ability to stretch the floor, as he's stuck between the power forward and center positions currently.

The verdict: Queen has no shortage of offensive talent and lifted the Terrapins to an outstanding season. Improving his shooting and conditioning will help alleviate concerns about his defensive intensity. --

Why would you want a guy who’s not athletic, not strong, not explosive and struggles to be in shape?

That sounds like he has no intangibles at all. The biggest red flag to me is a guy who doesn’t work hard

Because you are over emphasizing the weaknesses and overlooking the strengths. Here they are:

Queen, at 6’10 possesses a combination of size and speed that will allow him to immediately compete with players at the next level physically … Crashes the glass hard (averaged 9.2 rebounds for the Terrapins, second in the Big Ten in rebounds per game), knows how to use his body to out maneuver opponents down low or can simply overwhelm them … Isn’t reliant on the pieces around him to get the ball in his hands, can be proactive with both calling for the ball and moving off the ball for more opportunities … Queen can generate offense beyond the post, has the handle and agility to work his way from half court to the paint … Extremely light on his feet for his size, possesses lateral quickness that is rare for a player of his size, leading to him becoming one of the most impactful defensive players in his class (averaged 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals this year) … Has the potential to be one of the best 1-5 defenders at the next level, extremely capable as a switch/help defender … When dialed in, Queen has an all-world motor, can be relentless and will continue to hunt for the shot that is best for him … Is one of the best playmaking bigs in his class (averaged just under two assists per game this year), is comfortable creating out of the post and doesn’t always fully commit to scoring when driving to the rim … Shows the potential to develop into a capable floor spacer (had two games shooting over 40% from deep despite limited attempts), already has a solid mid range jumper and soft touch at the rim … A player with a lot of determination and focus …
