What RB in history doesn't get a good portion of their yardage from big runs though? Sanders did, in the current league the top 5 in yards were Cook, Henry, Taylor, Robinson and Achane, all of them are big run guys. So is barkley. Everyone would love an Emmitt Smith type but he was a great runner with one of the best OL's in history in front of him.
Yeah, I laugh at the people that say well if it wasn’t for this 80 yard run in that 75 yard run and that 92 yard run his yardage numbers wouldn’t be impressive.., such a joke

Who? How about most of the defensive players drafted by Monti since his first draft. Not Monti’s fault or even the players’ fault injuries have slowed their overall progress. 16 of the 17 defensive players he’s drafted are still on the team. I believe only Xavier Thomas is gone now. Hard to believe the Cardinals don’t believe that these guys can play, especially since they kept Rallis to further their development. It’s not true that their D was butt all year. It was only butt after injuries decimated this team on BOTH sides of the ball & they had to depend on very young depth. Here are the 17 defensive draft picks made by Monti. I have the round they were chosen in parentheses.

S G Williams (3) - injuries
Edge Ojulari (2) - injuries
CB Clark (6) -
LB Pappoe (5)
DT Stills (6)
DL Robinson (1) - injuries
CB Melton (2) - injuries
CB Jones (3) - injuries
S Rabbit (4)
LB X Thomas (5) - waived
CB Davis (7)
DT Nolen (1) - injuries
CB Johnson (2) - injuries
DE Burch (3)
LB Simon (4) - forced to play a position that he wasn’t ready for due to injury (Wilson) to our best defensive player. BIGGEST reason why our D struggled. Doesn’t mean this kid won’t be a very good player this year or next year.
CB Burke (5)
S Crawford (7)

You may think these guys suck, and that your prerogative. I’m hopeful that we can continue to develop them into very productive players.
I have to think the Cards believed Gannon, not Rallis ran the show. Rallis may have felt restricted.

I like his breakout potential. I think they’re harder to come by inthe NFL. The Cards need to make some holes in the line. They didn’t last year.

Since I'm in Mexico, even they know how bad the Cardinal running game is! ¡Jajajajaja!

"El ataque terrestre de Arizona fue el segundo peor de la NFL con apenas 93.1 yardas por partido y apenas nueve touchdowns, además ninguno de sus corredores superó la barrera de los 300 acarreos."

To be fair, trying to understand why the Cardinals brought back Monti and Rallis takes some unconventional mental gymnastics.
Monti is somewhat understandable. Lots of GMs get a second shot at picking a coaching staff.

But Rallis? After THAT performance by his unit? It beggars belief... still.

No you’re exactly right Russ but Love is joining a horrifically bad roster just like Ottis and we’re going run the kid into the ground during his first contract just we did Anderson.

If you want to justify the pick by saying he was the BPA I can see that side of it.

But at best he’s going to be the RB version of McBride this past season.

Lots of stats, absorbing A ton big hits, and about three wins to show for it.
Gets our qbotf next year, all the better.

Fair, Harry. I just can't think of any other way this draft would have fallen in our favor otherwise. Trades back would have been disastrous.

It's more than I'd ideally like to commit to an RB, but I'm excited to give MLF a major weapon.
Right. This is about THIS draft. Woulda normally take love at 3? In a korma draft? Likely not. But this draft, with these players available, is what we have to work with.

So all of these guys are good and talented? Jones was healthy all year last year (and in the back half of 2024 if we’re being honest) and couldn’t get on the field.

Melton has missed 5 of 34 potential games due to injury. I’m still kind of cheering for him.

Which of those guys, based on the available evidence, do you think are above-average starters in the NFL this year?
When you look at my list again, you might notice that it was the players drafted in rounds 1-3 that incurred the most injuries & those are the players that we needed quicker production from. The players drafted in rounds 4-7 actually stayed much healthier & actually made contributions relative to where they were drafted. All the players we drafted in rounds 1-3, including Jones, still have the potential to be major contributors to this defense. But, they HAVE to stay healthier than they have.

Jones hasn’t played enough for you to reach that conclusion but his practice performance must be garbage.

They played Clark and Ward ahead of him.

Jones actually played well in the season finale last year. For whatever that’s worth.

How do you know how he reached that conclusion? Not everybody thinks and concludes the same as you.

Baldinger is talking about the 49ers upcoming picks and the guy asked him about our pick and the Rams.

Said Simpson is in heaven won't have to play until he's ready, won't get thrown in on the Cards or jets and be overwhelmed. then on Love he said look Arizona has talent and depth at RB but Love was just too good to pass up I'm not surprised at all they picked him he was the best player in the draft.

He also loves Pregnon isn't sure the 49ers will take him thinks they really want a T not a guard

We gave up 37 points in that game. A sample size of one meaningless game shouldn’t dissuade you from noticing that the staff didn’t play him for 16 weeks.

Yes agreed. Although I think Rallis was the "break glass in case of emergency" option. They got turned down by other DC options.

I have 0% confidence that the defence is suddenly going to get better with the same DC and personnel.
