The Arizona Cardinals have made their pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft. After speculation of potential trades, or of taking an offensive lineman or pass rusher, they go with someone they hope is an offensive game changer.
With the third overall pick in the draft, they selected Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.
Love becomes the highest-drafted running back since Saquon Barkley was selected second overall in 2018.
He is six feet tall and 212 pounds. He was third in the Heisman voting last season.
He rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging 6.9 yards per carry. He also caught 27 passes for 280 yards and three scores.
He scored 42 total touchdowns in his last two seasons.
The Cardinals now have a big-time young back who can hopefully carry the load of the running game.
