back half of the season last year teams knew we were going to throw the ball - fans knew it - get to brissett and beat the cardinals - we were dead in the water even with the gaudy passing numbers

love changes all that - my little browinie filled hippie mind was going over it last night - idk about every down back but i do kniw he's a threat on every down he plays

this kid is special- i keep saying that because i keep seeing that - showed my wife a youtube vid last year and ive been geeking out every since - it's the vision and zero time spent making decisions- if he stutters it's because he's buying time for something developing infront of him - not because he's still scanning - there's a difference

just watch when love gives us a legit play action freezing the linebackers who are also supposed to be covering trey who's running directly at them - safety help? that gives wilson (and mhj) one on one's - not to mention brissett getting hit a lot less

love is everything
The reason they knew the Cards would throw in the back of the season is they’d knocked out all the RBs. Just hope the same fate doesn’t befall Love. Love is special, but he’s also vulnerable.

the one interesting thing here is this really now puts more on what a disaster it was how Kyler ended up. If you still had a viable Kyler as the QB now it would be an absolutely different ballgame. Kylers speed and ability to run causes defenses to account for him so you in effect often had 1 less defender to defend the run because they were worried about Kyler. We saw 2 years ago how effective that could be running the ball with Conner and Benson.

Now do that with Love and it gets pretty interesting. But of course we didn't have a viable Kyler and the one we had didn't seem to want to run anymore, and if we had a viable Kyler wouldn't have had the 3rd pick.
A backfield of Murray and Love would have been interesting. Those drop-off passes might have turned into something. Even RPOs might have worked.

I like Love. He’s a fine RB, though I think slightly overrated in a very thin pool. It’s a lot of money on a marginally impactful position. He’s a breakaway threat, but I’ll be curious to see how many ofill those he actually makes. Running to the right should be interesting. Any pick at that point was a bit of a gamble and in this case he impacts the cap for a long time. I mentioned McCaffrey before the draft. There are some similarities but think how much time he’s missed. He was the 8th pick in his draft. There’s a $25 mil difference in cap impact from 3rd to 8th. I don’t think Love is quite McCaffrey good, but Love is a multi-aspect threat. MLF’s system is a good fit as I noted before the draft. I hope his supporters are right and he’s fun to watch. Durability and the significant Cardinal weaknesses still make me wonder how big his impact will be.
He will have the ball more then MHJ how is this not impactful.

We have talent on the defensive side of the ball, albeit young talent. We need to figure out how to keep that young talent healthier. As is usually the case with any team, availability will determine what kind of success we have. We have far more depth on this team than I can recall having in my lifetime. What we need now are star players. Love is that kind of player.
Do we? Who? These defense was absolute butt all year last year, and two of the five best players aren’t currently with the team.

On paper we should have been hitting our stride in the secondary this year. But we were so injury riddled last year that I don't think we really know what we have going forward. Sure, Will Johnson flashed early but he straight up tanked on effort late in the year.

With who? Who is good in the secondary we’re likely to see?

Rabbit? 30 year old Budda Baker whose had one pick in the past three seasons? Max Melton with zero INTs going on Twitter to say he’s also never surrendered a TD?

Like I said it was on paper. You will have to find someone else to argue with.

The defense was ok early in the year just couldn't come up big at the end of the games. But it fell off a cliff laer of course

After the Tenn game we just fell apart, defense only played decent in like 2 games after that Titan collapse.

We definitely need to add talent on that side of the ball but we need talent on both sides.

We played Tennessee in the fifth game of the season.

Allowed 22 to Carolina, who averaged 18 ppg.

We were 29/27 in defense last season.

No we don't. The only three guys who showed they have top tier talent are Sweat, and the top 2 rookies we picked last year (CB/DL who's names escape me... man, age is setting in), who couldn't stay healthy in their first pro season. Literally EVERYONE else is a freaking jag or can't stay healthy or be depended upon to save their life.

We were 29/27 in defense last season.

THe defense scored the first TD against Carolina on a fumble recovery by Collins and set up the next FG on a fumble. So 10 of our 27 that day was because of the defense.

Defense held them under 50 yards rushing but as I said, they fell apart in the 4th quarter and gave up 2 TD's to make the game close.

After 5 games our defense was reasonably good, it fell apart after that. 108 points after 5 games 21.6 PPG then gave up 380 points 31.66 a game the last 12 games. Huge difference from the start of the season.

I'm not saying Rallis is the guy or not no idea but we were much better early in the year

Jeremiyah Love is a GENERATIONAL TALENT.

Vs #20 USC -265 total yards, 24 carries 228 yards (9.4) 1 TD

Vs #22 Pitt- 167 total yards, 23 carries 147 yards (6.4) 1 TD

Vs #16 Texas A&M 147 total yards 2 TDs

Only 1 fumble.

That’s generational.

The Cardinals got a GEM.

Who? How about most of the defensive players drafted by Monti since his first draft. Not Monti’s fault or even the players’ fault injuries have slowed their overall progress. 16 of the 17 defensive players he’s drafted are still on the team. I believe only Xavier Thomas is gone now. Hard to believe the Cardinals don’t believe that these guys can play, especially since they kept Rallis to further their development. It’s not true that their D was butt all year. It was only butt after injuries decimated this team on BOTH sides of the ball & they had to depend on very young depth. Here are the 17 defensive draft picks made by Monti. I have the round they were chosen in parentheses.

S G Williams (3) - injuries
Edge Ojulari (2) - injuries
CB Clark (6) -
LB Pappoe (5)
DT Stills (6)
DL Robinson (1) - injuries
CB Melton (2) - injuries
CB Jones (3) - injuries
S Rabbit (4)
LB X Thomas (5) - waived
CB Davis (7)
DT Nolen (1) - injuries
CB Johnson (2) - injuries
DE Burch (3)
LB Simon (4) - forced to play a position that he wasn’t ready for due to injury (Wilson) to our best defensive player. BIGGEST reason why our D struggled. Doesn’t mean this kid won’t be a very good player this year or next year.
CB Burke (5)
S Crawford (7)

You may think these guys suck, and that your prerogative. I’m hopeful that we can continue to develop them into very productive players.

Can Jeremiyah Love pass block?
"I can do it all, I can receive, I can block, I can run, you name it, and I'm going to do anything for any team to have success,'' Love said. He added on his ability in pass protection and that "nobody has really beat me in blocking. I've pretty much dominate guys who've tried to rush me ...Feb 27, 2026
