Didja hear that the Arizona Diamondbacks are thinking of changing their name to one of the following:

Black Racer, Brown Snake, Coachwhip Eastern, Cornsnake, Diamond Water Snake, Earth Snake, Greater Snake Eastern, Green Snake Rough, Hognose Snake Eastern, Kingsnake Black, Kingsnake Prairie, Kingsnake Scarlet, Kirtland's Snake, Milk Snake Eastern, Mud Snake Western, Pine Snake Northern, Queen Snake, Rat Snake, Redbelly Snake Northern, Ribbon Snake Eastern, Ribbon Snake Western, Ringneck Snake, Scarlet Snake, Southeastern Crowned Snake, Water Snake Broad-banded, Water Snake Copperbelly, Watersnake Mississippi Green, Water Snake Northern/Midland, Water Snake Yellowbelly and Worm Snake.

What do they have in common? They are all non-poisonous snakes.

Hopefully, they won't change their name to the Las Vegas or Seattle Whatevers.

Just trying to cope while watching them every night. :)

How many of us are?
A few. But we are dwindling. I wish I was 20 and could look to the future. But I have lived here for 67 years, supported the big 4 and have a championship to show for it. I may die with that being the only one.

I have lived here 41 of my 78 years. But I have four Championships to
show for it. Because I am a red-hot Mercury fan. And they have three.

When I sat in the rafters for Bob Seger's final concert (delayed a year
and a half after his back surgery), the Mercury's 3 Championship
banners were right there . . . vs. the Suns zero in 51 years.

Hey, at least you have the one, thanks to RJ and Gonzo.

And the smartest baseball decision I ever saw. Bob Brenly's
decision to not start Randy in Games 1-4-7 (and not having
to pitch in Yankee Stadium), have Schilling take the 1-4-7
and Randy start 2 and 6, and relieve in Game 7.

It was the difference maker. It was a gutsy and brilliant move.

We were so busy philosophizing, I didn't notice that the Giants
had scored their 7th run on a double play.

And now, another run on a ground ball in the 7th with two outs.

And another run makes it 9-2. And another pitching change.
Chrichton is in.

The D-backs have been pussycats since the 1st inning. Just
like yesterday's middle of the game.

Walker, in on a double switch, hits a HR.

And Dyson singles.

Flores, now 4-for-4, singles him to 3B.

Escobar with a sac fly makes it 9-4.

And Peralta grounds out to end the inning.

We got the two runs back that the Giants
scored in the top of the inning.

Meanwhile, the Freight Train is not the same
hitter, or clutch hitter, that he was before
he was injured.

That's why I said the big 4. The Rattlers have won more than their fair share and the Mercury have won 3, but I was talking about the big 4: NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL. No disrespect to the ladies at all. I stopped going to the Phoenix Open years ago as they play a game I cannot relate to. I always go to the LPGA tournament here and I can relate to them better, even though they could all kick my ass in golf. As far as the Rattlers, it is a fun watch but not one of the big four. It is like Little League baseball, the only people who care are there. BTW, I was at that Seger concert also. I last saw him here in the 70's and so glad I saw him for the last time.

I loved the Seger concert. My only disappointment was that he
didn't do one of my favorites, Fire Lake, about an actual lake.

Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Timothy B. Schmit (of the Eagles,
of course) had sung backup for Seger on the record.

And the Giants add a 10th run, then an 11th, here in the top
of the 8th.

What could Torey Lovullo possibly say at the post-game Press
conference? I think he should call in sick. :)

Seger has so many great songs, Turn the Page is my favorite.

And Ahmed with a 2-run HR off the top of the fence
down the right field line makes it 11-6.

Trying to play catch-up game after game is stressful.

Second inning in a row the D-backs have scored two
after the Giants scored two in the top of the inning.

Alex Avila is pitching the 9th.

Second time in a week.

And gets them 1-2-3.

Another Minor League starter
was throwing in the bullpen.

Lovullo and Butcher just don't
get it.

How to butcher a Minor League
starting pitcher, by bringing him
up to learn a new job. :(

After a scoreless inning, Avila has a lower ERA (4.50) than Leake, Kelly, Clarke, Andriese, Hirano or McFarland this year.

Of course it is important to stretch a double into a triple when you are down 11-6 with 2 outs in the ninth.:mulli::mulli:

It's only fair. His batting average is down with the pitchers. :(

Hey, maybe . . . . Never mind.

I watched a clip of Avila explaining why he doesn't hit the opposition of the shift. He says they have worked all their life on their swings and they cannot do that. 1. He can't hit any direction. 2. I was taught that in Little League and it worked. Prima Donnas.
