I appreciate the awareness.
Not the field awareness to make that pass safely,...no....

I appreciate the awareness of a rookie coming in to the Arizona Cardinals and making that flashy little pass to give the fans something positive to hang on to until the season starts.

Because those folks that show up for the red & white aint just random every day fans... they are committed...they bleed Cardinal red, their tears turn to feathers as they fall to the ground....
and there have been a lot of tears lately.....
Like most of us on this board... those fans at the red & white were in dire need of something positive..something hopeful, to carry them into the 2026 season.
Most rookies wouldnt pick up on something like that, after all...
Its just another practice

i know brissett is starting and the backup is minshew - i know the hof game matters even less than preseason games and i know the red and white practice means less than that - it's a meet and greet for fans

but like everyone else i'm bored scrolling twitter looking for football crack and there's the local pundits posting from practice

idk if rallis was pissed off or if brissett and minshew had simultaneous bad days but by all accounts our pass game was ass crack

then towards the end carson beck comes in with the 2s - that's when all the fun begins - meaningless as hell but exuding confidence

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

i was the hippie calling bs on beck not being nervous - i'm not no more - whether it's a national game or a 2 minute display infront of his new fanbase carson beck has delivered

confidence is king - we're debating cam newton/hall of fame in the other thread - one of the best i ever seen but after he lost his confidence forgetaboutit - same with kyler murray

beck isn't breathing down the neck of minshew and brissett (yet) but he has shown he can make the throws - arm strength is not a question for yours truly - he has shown leadership qualities - first in the building last one out - got the paris seal of approval

most of all he's shown a ish ton of confidence - starting to think it's just what he does

i put like 87 "meaningless" disclaimers in my post - i'm just saying it takes more than skill to throw the perfect pass - beck is showing confidence
I wasn't talking about you sorry, I was talking about my social media feed is nothing but those articles its probably just because I was clicking on them. It does seem though as tons of people are piling into this convo.

but I love the attention!

Just think, the luv train for Love hasn’t started as of yet!

It appears our coach has brought some needed attention as well.

My only concern with moving on from KM was we would loose that attention pipeline from the media and the like.

we gotta remember one thing.
from a talent perspective, that HoF game was maybe..maybe,..one or two microsmidgens higher than the last college game Beck played in five months ago.
Just a teeny weeny bit....
So, he absolutely should look like he belongs....
if he gets into some first half action over the next couple pre season games that talent level will jump. The DB's will close a little faster...the pass rushers will be coming a bit quicker....
we need to see him be equally calm and in control when that happens.

Baby steps

His receivers will break a little crisper, his OL will block a little better, his RBs will hit the holes faster, etc.

i was half joking when i said i wanted to lead the league in least yards rushing by qbs

then i looked up matt schaub's rushing stats - who lafleur personally hired as his quarterbacks coach - dude had 353 yards TOTAL rushing yards in his 16 year career - how is that even possible

2 time probowler who never left the pocket - also only lasted 10 years as a starter

I forgot who the analyst was some years back, but the question was which QBs were the most mobile of all-time. Shockingly he said Dan freaking Marino? Again, wish I can remember the guy because he was a guy whose words one would respect and why I remember him saying it. The point is his perspective saw the QB in the NFL as being primarily a passer and emphatically said Mario could move in the pocket just enough to set up his passes with great form. I call that pocket presence but at this level there are people who put the most subtle things at a much higher level. Still would like to see the forty yard dash with such 'mobile' QBs as Marino, Aikman or Lomax- but this would have to take place during the day so the sundial could work.

You gotta remember, this was back in the day when a linebacker might accidentally stick a finger in your eye when tackled...

Good post - we are way overdue for some luck with a player like Beck. I bet he is threatening minshew and Jacobi more than you think

I don't think Minshew is a real threat. I think he was brought in to be #2, regardless of who is starting. If JB goes down in a game, Minshew comes in. If JB get injured and misses time, I think it's totally plausible to start Beck and keep Mk shew in the mentor #2 role.

I still vividly remember Danny boy moving up to his right to avoid the rush and zip in a pass..he cleared about maybe 7 or 8 yards total... but dude was literally running with both legs stiff,..huge knee braces on each knee...strapped on so tight he couldnt hardly bend his knees at all... like he had 2x4"s for legs, lol

Danny Boy had serious guts man...wasnt crap for running away but he moved a bit...and no matter what he was gonna get his pass off.
also seen him zip one 35 yards down field while he was halfway to the ground with a DE wrapped around his mid section.

and the very best?? LMAO..Im gonna go to hell for this... but the very best...was when he was working as an analyst on TV...and one of the other guys would refer to him as the best QB to never win a Super Bowl...oh crap dude would get pissed as hell...turn all red, veins popping out of his skull...lol..it was a "soft spot" for him, lmao.
