it’s not a home run, but it is a double. He is clearly a better player than either of the guys we gave up. He should help our rebounding issue.

They don’t have many options to make the team better, we don’t have picks and we don’t have cap room. That leaves winning trades, and getting lucky on cheap free agents.

Why can we win this trade, because charlotte didn’t want to extend him, possibly because of his baggage.
also possibly because he doesn't add much on the court in a league where shooting and defense is a premium... and he brings neither to the table.

and he's a bad fit. He doesn't play defense. He's a bad rebounder and a bad 3 point shooter.

I do not get this move at all.
He is not a bad rebounder. 6 rebounds a game is actually good in today’s game for a PF, and the year before he averaged 7.5.

He has some shot creation ability of his own as well. Now 4 of our 5 starters should be able to get their own shot.

we don't play the traditional 1 thru 5 the way it's drawn up - we played 4 guards a lot last year - 4 guards and oso at times - 4 guards and fleming a few times

is ott a small ball guy or did he play what the situation dictated? we're about to find out

He’s only a -.1 dpm, so he is pretty much a completely average defender.

Also he is an above average passer at 3.5 assists.

I didn't mind the figure on the extensions but the years and options were questionable. We have an owner willing to pay the tax and with all the dead money from Beal, we won't have real space for years so ultimately I don't view those deals as that big of negatives. Royce was always available and Allen was a decent contributer. Losing a 1st hurts, especially when it's for an average at best player like Miles. Throw in his off court issues and how the team wants to extend him, I don't expect to save that much and this deal hurts us longer given the 33 pick.

The Suns are like a quarterback scrambling in the pocket in the face of a pass rush.

They are trying to avoid tacklers (salary and tax) while trying to make a big pass play downfield by connecting with a tightly covered wide receiver.

Lots of fancy footwork going on. I enjoy watching all the maneuvers.

If this trade is a salary dump, surely there were cheaper options out there.
For Royce and Grayson, I didn’t see one and I looked.

But gambo says the plan is to extend him and he is almost always right.

Yeah, "Brett", all about trading those picks. We're so close to winning before the window closes with Booker!

"By sacrificing a future 2033 first for a 2029 first, the Suns now have access to all picks 2027 through 2029, opening up potential trade avenues for Phoenix.

Smart front-office maneuverability."

I had no idea about Bridges domestic abuse case, so I have no idea what happened. I don’t trust media reports on this stuff either. It could be much less, or much more than has been reported.

So I will just have to look at the bball portion of this. We will miss the shooting of those two. Grayson is redundant with Green on the roster. Part of me wishes we could have traded Green instead of Grayson. Losing ONeale is fine with me. We have to develop Dunn, and this also frees up some minutes at 3 for others.

This looks like the Suns might have some moves to make in free agency. I thought we were done.

It's hard to separate the two though because their moves were intertwined.
I think it’s clear now that Ishbia’s GM’s don’t have much power. Going back to the report by Woj that Ishbia got the KD deal done by doing the negotiating himself. The Miles Bridges fascination is pretty weird considering no other teams had interest in him.

The Suns have always had interest in Miles Bridges, but it shows how burdensome those contracts of Allen and O'Neale were.

Whatever anyone does think of Bridges personally, it does give the Suns at least some potential for being decent on the court next year... depending on how it impacts team chemistry, which is a BIG question mark. It's going to be hard to say for certain until other shoes potentially drop.

I think the roster as it was before the trade was dead in the water. There was no way that team wasn't backsliding in a big way due to terrible construction and injury risk. They now have what is somewhat closer to an actual starting lineup.

On the other hand, their front office (apparently driven by ownership) still seems utterly clueless about building on foundational talent and valuing the draft. It seems like they are inclined to doubling down on trying to take shortcuts with risky short term fixes and shots in the dark.

Yet, the Suns keep back loading their roster with younger players. They do value youth.

We weren’t going anywhere with our team as it sat last week. Are we better? Worse? I have no clue. Is there a magical roster that gets us into the top 5 in the west? Probably not.

I’m willing to see how it plays out. Because that’s what we do suns fans. (We just justify mediocrity)

It’s like when Taco Bell releases a new menu item. It Looks promising, but in end you pay for it with severe stomach issues.
I just ate at Taco Bell last week. Can confirm.

Far from a burden. They are solid role players. The Ishbia regime is just terrible at managing assets.

I think what gets confusing, everything has to be viewed through the lens of the CBA.

This helps to make sense of what appears to be random madness.
