I respect the opinion of those who say we should give JB a raise, but I will respectfully disagree for a few reasons:
1. Caving to a player demanding a raise after winning 1 game…I repeat, one game is beyond insane. What kind of precedence do they want to set as an organization?
2. As has been documented, most of his stats were during garbage time…A lazy eye will simply look at the final stats rather than remember what actually happened during the games, especially those were winning was in reach…JB collapsed in every one of those games.
3. He is barely even a bridge quarterback if that’s fair to say…Kurt Warner and Carson Palmer were actual bridge QBs for us. I don’t see how dumping resources into a player who doesn’t win games helps this team figure out the most important position in all of sports. Paying him leads to pressure to play him, thus delaying seeing what we have in Carson Beck.
4. I won’t even argue that as it stands that he is the best QB option on this team. But that’s really a weak argument. So we should pay JB bc starting him gives us a 4.2% chance to win games instead of a 2.2% chance with Minshew? The difference is minuscule and this non consequential in the grand scheme. If we’re rebuilding just embrace the rebuild, I vote start Beck, or at least by October.
