Not me, certainly.

If I am being honest those first four picks look like I was the one in the war room making the calls. Any of you that maybe pay any attention to my posts will recognize that I was pushing for each of the first three months or at least weeks ago.

It was obvious that if we went with a different position at pick 3 we were not likely to get an OT...slim chance a guy fell to 34,...I was thinking maybe Big Max... but his innate talent was just too obvious...and he was picked by a team with a long history of developing powerhouse linemen in Pittsburgh... Im happy for Max...in honesty that was probably the best place he could go for his career.
I have a sneaky feeling the Rams caused that to happen when they picked Ty Simpson...leaving the Stillers without a rookie QB to pick in the first round...so they went with raw talent that will help their squad for the next 15 years.

Jeremiya Love....I made it clear I see greatness in the kid as I comped him to Marcus Allen...the greatest Running back to ever play the game.(you can argue that point. But at the time he retired Marcus was in the top 5 of every single RB stat...the only back to "ever" accomplish that feat...so you would be wrong)...whether he will actually achieve greatness remains to be seen. However, he did have the audacity to actually state the hall of fame as a goal....ballsy, and now he has to live up to the pressure he placed on himself.

Guard is a shrewd pick and Bisontis is a shrewd guard... had we traded back to around 9 I mentioned Ioane as a choice... our interior o line has been our biggest weakness for a couple years. Tackle is a sexier pick but any coach worth his salt can mask a weak tackle...easy enough to scheme in help when he needs it..just add another linemen outside of him, line Tip up on the right, chip with McBride,...or use Love's fantastic blocking to chip or double the rusher on that side.
we will have to watch for delayed rushers if we use the back to help over there too much as a DC will notice,...and bring another guy after the RB has engaged. But Bisontis was an easy choice as he had the possibility in going in the first round just like Ioane did. we should be very excited by this pick...it will make the Seattle games much more boring, as we wont need to freak out over their IDL blasting into our backfield at will...it will seem quite pedestrian.

Carson Beck...lots of you hate on this kid. Dude is a jackass according to all the media. Thats fine...I aint planning on inviting him to any barbecues. Aaron Rodgers is a jackass too,...and teams are still trying to hire him even though he basically retired four years ago.
The simple fact is Beck is the most experience QB in the draft and has the best resume...had he not hurt his elbow the kid would have been a top 5 pick in 2024.
we got him in the third after even more experience... the hate on him is more recency bias than being based on his skillset.. honest concerns about his arm. But he showed last year he can still make all the throws and historically guys with elbow surgery take a season or two to get their zip back... his biggest issue is panic when things go haywire... but experience helps with that...as does confidence with his system and team mates...and the tape shows he panicked less with Miami than he did the year before at Georgia..so improvement is evident.....still doesnt change the fact that he passed for more yards in a college season than Kyler did in a pro season....dude makes the play.

The small school DT was a score. I hadnt really watched the guy before we picked him. But he fits the Cardinals mold of a lineman that can move all along the D Line and be effective. with what we have already seen from Nolen, and the third year development from Robinson,...we should have a front 3 that keeps the opponents line moving backwards,...or leaves them behind as we slip into the backfield.

Then we added Reggie Virgil...a big lanky WR with excellent hands and game speed..dude gets YAC...he is a skinny little dude that runs like Anquan Boldin when he gets the ball..if you watch his tape its surprising how strong he plays for such a thin dude. His addition gives us a very big WR room,...I mean, dudes are huge!! Our transition is complete. A few years back we only had like two dudes over six foot...now we dont have any under 6'2...we can run three wide and never get under 6'3... this helps any QB.. the way Virgil tracks, attacks, and high points he could quickly become a young quarterbacks favorite target.. which would be a feat considering Trey McBride will be on the field.

The biggest job our staff has this season is to get a QB under center that can match the level of play we got from a healthy Kyler....and honestly that shouldnt be too hard..we have some serious weapons on offense...if Marv finds his inner dawg in the off season we may even be "Elite" on offense... if they do that our defense will have less pressure on it...while also being able to bring more pressure themselves... Rallis has no reason to be scared..if the defense takes a gamble and fails our offense should be able to make up the points pretty quickly.

we are worried about long term QB... maybe rightfully so.

If its my squad...I want Carson Beck to win the start right out of the gate. Then its all on him to keep his job...
play well, make the playoffs...and he is the Cardinals QB...
Play badly, and we have the draft capital to draft his replacement.

For the fans its just about figuring out what you want. If you want to win, make the playoffs, maybe get out of the NFL basement for a few years...then you look at the strengths of the guys we drafted and see the possibilities...
they cant keep us from getting a better young QB if they suck.
but if they dont suck...maybe we dont need a better young QB.

Parity works in our favor in this situation.

of course, Cardinals parody may work against us... I guess its possible our defense totally suxx... but the offense is so good it doesnt matter? we constantly give up 30 points a game...but the offense powers us into the WC game scoring 35?

That would be a conundrum.

worst case scenario for us at this point is getting stuck in the purgatory of going one and done in the playoffs every year like Pittsburgh has been doing...fine for a couple years...but really bad in the long run.

Fantastic summary Oaken1. Agree 100%. CB (is this abbreviation going to work for Carson Beck?) will pull the trigger on the short-to-intermediate passing West Coast style Offense. He won't have time to panic. Plus, he will be able to survey the entire field. Expect great things for our skilled players with the addition of JL.

I guess the plan is to out score everyone since our defense was pretty much ignored and the off season additions were not exactly difference makers. We have a plethora of run stuffing Dlinemen. Rallis is still our DC. Still don't know how they are going to generate sacks. I was hoping we would address pass rushing at least to some extent in the draft. We did draft one undersized DT.

Consider the sheer number of players who were key parts of the D who went out with injuries during 2025. We are getting a lot of those guys back. Here's a summary of the MASH unit for the Cards last year:

They kept DC Rallis---even after being a part of last year's disaster. The good news (I hope) is that our D players are familiar with expectations and assignments and will be healthy enough to execute the playbook. We had street FA's getting signed in the middle of the week and starting on Sunday. JG has a complex D--especially for his DBs. Injuries destroyed the cohesion/communication and ability to play as one. Teams are limited with full-contact pad practice so a lot of those FA replacements had zero work in real time with the D. Our play caller went out and we had a rookie calling the signals. . . on and on.

Got to hope that clearing players out of intensive care will show up in the 'W' column.

Also, still opportunity to add players as teams make salary-cap decisions and camp cuts with vets.

Ya see... I look at the trajectory we were on coming out of 2024...then the talent we added...

something happened in the locker room early last season that affected the entire team..dont know what...but it was obvious...and it seemed to culminate with our HC striking a player on the sidelines... but the entire team checked out early last year. The effort just seemed to dissipate by the end of the first month...with kyler doing interviews questioning if he was going to be around to see the new facility and stuff like that....
But the defense did not perform to expectations...or their talent level...seemed Sweat, Nolen, and CC were really the only guys playing to win.
I think...."Think"...we will see this team pick up where they left off at the end of 2024...and we will see vast improvement over last season.
the fact that we have good strong talent on our team..on our defense,...is undeniable.
we have some decent young DB's...a couple were unfortunately derailed by injury last year but the talent is still there.
Josh sweat, is a top notch #2 pass rusher...not a featured rusher..but still a top notch #2...we saw what Walter Nolen can do, in the limited time he had between injuries... and Darius Robinson showed his strength...and this year is his year three, so we should see it come together for him... and my boy Dante Stills is still a solid baller as the first guy off the bench.
our main weakness on D is at ILB....we dont have much help at the second level... but with the addition of Proctor, and some reasonable development from Nolen and Robinson...our defensive front should perform light years better than what we saw in the 25 season....would be nice if they convince Calais to stay on for one more year...his tutelage is just as valuable as his play on the field.
...as for the secondary its just a matter of health. we got talent...but you have to judge each guy by his individual skills...its a difficult task when you are judging them based on a situation in which they were thrown in too soon, and into new roles they would not normally be in but were forced into due to injury....and having to do it with no help coming from the pass rush.
speaking of pass rush......
its way past time we stop wasting a roster spot on BJ ojulari...dude can either play or he cant...they have to make the right decision for the team like, right now...and stop delaying his career as a grocery bagger...if thats what his fate has in store...I have been way more patient with him than anyone else...mostly because he was so damn young... but we are smack dab in the middle of put up or shut up time...the patience is over.
then the other DE kid we brought in last season...he gets good pressure...

if we can just get our players on the field at the same time I think we will see we do not have a lack of talent.
all this to say, I dont think our defense is going to be horrendous. certainly not as horrible as many are making them out to be.
Top 5?? No, certainly not.
But at least top half of the league?? Yeah...Im pretty sure we can hold down a top 15 ranking...we managed top 10 a couple years back with less talent.

I tried to bring up before that the same team that everyone thought was going to be good before being wrecked by injuries, is coming back minus Kyler. I was basically called an idiot by our resident posters that hate the idea of hope for the Cards.

I have hope for the Cards:
I hope the injury bug is somehow exterminated.
I hope the defense plays better with more experience.
I hope Love is the RB savior many think he will be.
I hope the QB, whoever he is, leads the team in the right direction.
I hope the new coaches don’t require a 3-year runway to find success.
I hope the O-Line is good enough to withstand the onslaught we’ll see from other NFL West teams.
I hope we’re not drafting in the top 5 again next year.
I hope our round 1 draft pick finally plays like a first rounder.
For years, I’ve had a hope of winning the lottery so I can jump on my private plane and fly to the Cardinals games wherever they might play. So far that hope is just that — hope. Here’s hoping the Cardinals have better luck with my hopes for the team.

Same thing, every year. Convince ourselves our draft is awesome, then by week 8-10 most of the players drafted haven't played and the ones that do massively underwhelm. Rinse and repeat next year when we "Crush it!" in the draft.

Great take mate , I'm feeling positive about the draft and the impact they can have.

I'm hopeful Beck can morph into a solid starter. I kinda like that he seems to be 'hated', gives him summat to prove.

What I don't like is that we picked Beck, he didn't choose to come here, yet People are trashing him. People might not think he'll work out, that's fine, but he's a Cardinal now and we should wish him the best. I'm sure I read someone slagging him off for having tattoos ffs (apologies if I got this wrong).

Wishing for a crap season and to tank doesn't help this organisation.

I'm a newbie but can someone finally say it?

If you don't like the Arizona Cardinals then find another team.

Oaken I agree with just about everything. And I don't understand why a lot of people hate Beck. It's laughable especially when they talk about his shoulder injury. Remember when Warner was supposed to be washed up because of a thumb?

Make me laugh some more

Very few gathered here are committed: Mr. Bromden, Taber, some of the chronics, and you. Most of us are voluntary.

Yea because you’re a newbie imma let it slide. But no questioning of fandom. Doing so will generally result in a break from the site. Even the complete negative nellys here are fans. Or they wouldn’t be here wasting time debating about this mess of a franchise. They’ve earned the right to be negative sadly.

I dont hate it

I think, somewhat uncharacteristically, Monti reached too often after round 2. I think Simpson going at #13 surprised him so he reached for Beck at #65.

I could argue that Reese at #3 probably was better for need vs Love -- but I think Love carries a far, far higher floor than Reese. Monti has no room for error there --so I get the safter pick (and the higher rated player).

If you don't like the Arizona Cardinals then find another team.
Ooh, be careful, grasshopper. I said almost the same thing with my very first post and was banned for a week. Possibly a record that will never be broken..LOL

Think of it as debating from different points of view ;)

I don't hate on any of them really, a lot of it is one coaching regime to the other pivots that leave you with personnel that don't fit anymore. This is just unavoidable which is why retaining the DC might be not such a bad idea after all, it avoids a scheme rebuild on both sides of the ball.
