If MLF is worth his salt as an offensive mind, he should be able to figure out how to use Wilson, McBride and MHJ. The Wilson and MHJ skillsets aren't so different than Puka and Davante.
McBride takes up a lot of targets. It’s more like Aiyuk/Samuel/Kittle.

McBride's volume should take a dip. You would hope a higher yards per target would offset small decreases in volume for all three players.

Well yeah McBride was 3rd in the entire NFL in targets last year. Can he get more efficient?
I think he can get back up to the 7.8 yards per target he had in both the past two seasons. Maybe a more timing and rhythm offense enables him to generate a little more yards after catch.

This is his last year of his contract.
And if we do not re-sign him, he 100% is a 49er next season if we don't franchise him. That is where him and Sophia live in the off season and much closer to Portland where Sofia plays. He has talked about loving being a dad and being with his kid.

Funny that some of the same folks who get all upset when we don't re-sign our players are ok taking a chance in letting them walk. Michael Wilson in this case

You are trying to make a false equivalency. Not extending PJJ this offseason does not, in any sense, equate to letting him walk.

If you're talking about Wilson, I apologize.

I am talking about Wilson, sorry! PJJ is more fluid and there is more time for him. You can still easily extend PJJ next season, maybe more expensive, may not, that is up to him and his play. I am honestly ok seeing if he can last 17 games with the new training staff first. You need your LT for the playoffs and had we made if, he'd have missed the last two years. If you don't extend Wilson now, he is Zach Allen all over again

He might be at some point, but how much are you going to pay a guy that realistically has had half of a good season? (Especially when you've already burned a top 5 pick on MHJ)

Do people here really believe that Wilson is worth 25-30M per season?

If he shows that this year, then fine, either reward him with an extension or tag him.

25 mil would put Wilson at the same per year as Devonta Smith and 3.5 mil less than Alex Pierce. In the WR12 to WR20 range.

Wilson's stats are comparable to Pierce's even if Pierce has a different skill set.

So sounds like he'll be making 25-30 whether he's tagged (or transition) or gets a long term deal. Even more reason to make him prove it again this year before paying him.

If he is demanding the 30 mil mark, maybe that makes sense. I don't think his demands would be that (I could be wrong).

Here is the thing...if PJJ plays like the best LT in football, I have no issue paying him whatever number that equates to.
if he is even close...then just install that number behind a couple incentives... might be 25 mil a year...but a pro bowl adds 2mil...then all pro adds another 5 mil...etc... every game without a sack, 250k...stuff like that...can add up a 40mil contract pretty quick but if he actually gets it then he earned every dime.

he is on record stating he wants to be the first 40mil LT in the NFL...easy to google
I can see him getting the 40mil...just maybe not with THIS contract right now...maybe another 4 years down the road or so

We'd be dumb to do that.
It's gonna happen.
Wasn't long ago we were pitching about QB's demanding 25mil a year...now nobody blinks at 50mil.
WR's have eclipsed 30mil
In today's market a good LT is worth nearly as much as a QB(just don't tell ghandi...the internet says they ain't worth more than a RT)

I don't think PJJ is there yet. But his development and the rising market pretty much guarantees he will see 40mil at some point.

40 mill would be a record-setting LT contract. No way he is the top LT in the game.

My rather obvious point...is that IMO within the next five years or so it will not just be one guy getting 40mil a year at LT, but several...and PJJ may well be among them

Not right now but he's only 24 and getting better every year. In a few years it's not unconceivable that he's a top LT in the league. Agree, no need to extend him now but, barring injury, he's going to get paid. And the Cardinals should pay him.

He'll get paid. By next offseason, unless he improves and tops the league, ain't no way he should get 40 mill per. If he earns a 3rd contract, sure.
