PJJ's 5th year option picked up. Long term $$$ coming?

Yep. Why wait until next year when the price inevitably goes up?
Because you have team control and there's no reason to hand him the bag yet. Did the Kyler early contract teach us nothing? Now, PJJ's problems wouldn't be the same, but say he gets a career-altering injury this season after we give him the bag. No bueno.

Did McBrides'? For every failed contract, there's one that has succeeded. Plus it was a different GM giving Kyler the bag.

The same thing can happen if we waited a year. Give him the bag and gets injured. There's injury settlements to deal with this issue.

Would you rather pay a guy 21 mil who has not finished a season in the past two years or pay him 25 mil when he shows you he can?
If you believe in his potential, option A.

You completely misunderstand what injury settlements are. They don’t apply to big-contract players my man.

Watch out for a record breaking contract. PJJ made some comments a while back about wanting to be the first $40mil a year LT....he seemed pretty confident in his position.
its the Cardinals, so it will probably be dolled up with incentives and clauses and such..but the 5yrs/205mil neighborhood will probably be in sight.

He certainly hasn't earned that - he's been good but not great. No need to set the market for that.
