They literally said they’re not naming a starter… so they could either have a competition between Minshew and Brissett and we still have the draft coming. Don’t act like you don’t know these things
"Competition between Minshew and Brissett"

That's like deciding which three-legged pony is most likely to win the Kentucky Derby.

That’s just Gambini. It doesn’t say the team announced. He’s the starter.

The two mouthpieces of the organization has blatantly stated that a starter has not been named and will not be named so this would be false….

What's true, particularly after last season, is that Brisket believes he has a leg up on the competition for the job in 2026, and he's likely right. From what I've read, he has only $1.5m guaranteed in his current contract. Given the changing circumstances, it's hardly surprising that he's seeking a revised deal.

And whether said, blatantly or whispered, you don't have to be a football genius to work out that Brisket is the prohibitive #1.

The answer is simple. Name neither one the starter and Brisset goes Game 1, Minshew Game 2 etc. Do a QB by committee. Hell, even rotate QB's by quarter or even drive. That would be excitng!

I'm probably wrong but didn't they do that with Leinart and Warner for a couple of games before Warner was named QB1. Whichever the 2 QB's were it worked because the defense didn't know which one was coming in to run the offense. Then I read they stopped because it was too confusing for the offense also. But it was fun to watch.

Yes, but look slightly into the future and do you really see an even 40% chance that someone other than Brissett is starting week one?

Of course they’re not naming a starter. These are just the kinds of idiots who think this is some kind of competitive advantage.

Nope, that doesn’t qualify. He was the team’s backup quarterback, and the primary quarterback was injured so he was filling his role. It has nothing to do with this season moving forward. He was filling a role that he agreed to fill and agreed to the compensation to fill that role.
That is some Monti level spin you got there.

Maybe maybe not Gardner Minshew has a higher career winning percentage when starting and a higher career completion percentage than Brissett? I can see a path where you make them compete. Or they draft a rookie and give him the reigns from day one(not ideal). I mean, we are talking about a dysfunctional organization.

I'm laughing because of the comparison of Leinart, who actually showed promise, and HOF Warner's competition to this years "competition" between Brissett and Minshew.
Only the Cardinals. Great to be a Cards fan these days.

It's why naming neither as a starter brilliant. Why would we do so before the draft when neither QB is the QBoF?

Wait until the last preseason game to name one. (assuming we don't draft a QB)

I dare Jacoby to sit out. He doesn't have any negotiating power at all here.
I dare the Cards to start a rookie QB coming out of this draft.

It will be a colossal failure.

They made this bed with JB.
Started him over a true franchise QB, released franchise QB, put JBs pic in the practice facility like he’s somebody, didn’t sign an actual starter, and now want to play games with the dude.

The Cards are so terribly run.

Exactly. If they actually cave and give this guy more money it will be ridiculous. Not sure if they can look even more stupid than they already do but this would be a good start
We are approaching the Derek Anderson phase of history.

Cut Leinart a week before the season and roll the dice.

Cut JB right before the season and roll the dice with Minshew.

We are so fudged.

BIM: reins

King Charles reigns over the United Kingdom.

The jockey held the reins firmly.

Who is this franchise QB you speak of?

Almost impossible to be worse than Jacoby and his 1-11 record...
