Is Kyler the last of Keim's monstrous gaffe's?

We don't have any more of Keim's failed picks or idiotic contracts on the books after this... right?

@kerouac9

Honest question... am I missing something?

Was this not a monstrous gaffe?

I just don't see it with the Vikings either. Depends on if the Chiefs want to ease Mahomes back and if Kyler is ok just starting a few games.

I really don't care where he goes.

He is a QB who's man strength is his legs and he is terrified of taking hits.

At best, he's Sam Bradford with wheels, up until he gets even slightly dinged up, at which point he becomes Sam Bradford without the ability to see over the line.

After the combine I'm 99% certain nobody is trading for Kyler and he's getting cut. The combine is where these deals get hashed out and all the talk is that there is zero interest in trading for him.

And I'm sure the cards would take on part of his contract to facilitate a trade, which is an indictment of Kyler and how the league sees him.

It's going to be interesting seeing what happens when he gets cut, because I'm certain his camp will be asking for $40m+ in a deal and I just don't see Kyler's ego handling a prove it sub $20m a year offer.

Nah. This sounds like trying to offload the responsibility for Kyler’s failure from Ossenfort onto Keim.

Kyler’s contract was ill-advised and poorly handled but it wasn’t a gaffe. It was a market deal when it was offered and signed.

Also, we’ll have dead money from Jalen Thompson’s contract this year :bang:

A lot of people taking potshots at Kyler’s “ego” without any evidence. I’d Kyler’s contract has offset language some other team would have to pay $45 million for him to make an additional $4 million.

The likely scenario is Kyler lets Michael pay him to revive his reputation elsewhere.

The likelihood now is that he will be cut. Nobody wants to take on that contract. I think we'd have to give up draft capital to get teams to take the money. Here's to hoping he signs a bit FA deal after cut so the money gets offset.

1. nobody wanted that contract, and
2. teams are taking a "buyer beware" approach to the player

i think his next contract will have a big headline number, but will be one that the team can walk away from after year 1 without much cap damage

No one is giving anything for him with that contract. Unless the Cardinals decided to eat the entire amount over what a team will sign for him outright, no one is doing anything. That’s why LOssenfort should have just announced they had given Kyler permission to find a trade.
Unless they announce he won’t be released.

People saying K1 will be cut.

Welcome to 3 months ago when I said this.

Meanwhile the Cards have zero plan to replace him after knowing this for almost an entire season.

MO is a train wreck.

Comparable to the Broncos who cut ties with Russell Wilson at the cost of $85 million.

They then took a chance by drafting a QB and handing him the reins. Has worked out pretty well for them so far.

When you make mistakes you pay the price. Cut him or be glad to get a 6th round pick. Eat the money a FINALLY get out from under this.
Off course no matter where he goes many here will piss and moan with any highlights of his season and “ I told you so”.

More likely that people here will have their opinions validated. Those thinking the Cardinals were holding K1 down or impeding his progress will see him have the same struggles in another uniform and will no longer be able to blame the team for all of his shortcomings.

Way to go out on a limb. Several of us stated there would be very little trade interest for him. Just validates what many of have said he's not a QB that can elevate a team. Nobody wants him in a trade.

Why is that? He'll get paid the same, as any contract he signs will offset what the cards owe him. He'll sign a very low paying contract just like Russell Wilson did and collect his money from the cards. IMO

Why? He isn’t a fit for the system. A QB controversy never helped a team win.
I mean, if you have to pay him anyway, and you're not saving any cap room by cutting him ... park him on the bench and wait to see how injury situations shake out around the league before the deadline.

If nothing happens, isn't cutting him next year more advantageous?

A lot of people taking potshots at Kyler’s “ego” without any evidence.

Literally everything he's ever done. From his "I see everything" NYT interview, to his own letter headed memo released during his contract negotiations, to not getting professional training in the offseason, his interview AZ Sports last year where he said he's never had an issue with accuracy despite being statistically the worst passer beyond 10 yards over the last 4 years.

Literally everything he has ever done in the league. The guy is 5' 9" with an 8ft ego.

Yep. I mean we all pretty much predicted he would be shut down with an injury. Who really thought kylers ego would allow him to hold clipboard or headset to watch Jacoby be the starter while he would be the backup like kirk cousins did in Atlanta

I refer you back to the post about having a malcontent QB on your roster.

There is very little in the Bidwills history that suggests such surety is warranted about taking on part of his contract to facilitate a trade. In fact, the volume of evidence about their Pennywise pound foolish modus operendi suggest otherwise.

You are right, there is very little. But they did put most of Levi Brown's salary into a bonus to facilitate a trade to Pittsburgh.

Then Brown got hurt and they didn't even get the draft pick. OOF
