Keim is gone so it's safe for him to do so.

Actually I blame Mike more than Keim.

Keim was already circling the drain at that point, and while the details surely came from Keim it would have been Mike signing it off.

To let a failing GM tie you into that deal with that clause in it was dumb AF. Especially when you had the option to wait. Had he done so he could have cleared house a year later including Kyler, or let JG play him on his 5th year option with the option of franchise tagging him if no deal.

Just all round bad football business.

Yea. I know some people aren’t going to to be happy with the pick, even if it’s with 34.
I'd be ok at 34 - otherwise the guy is a huge red flag. Limited starts and got much worse as the season went on.

I'm not married to punting on QB due to the lack of talent available this year, but Simpson is terrifying.

That is a 9 win team with terrible QB play. If KM doesn't get that team to 12+ and playoff wins, then he isn't worth much and won't ever do anything.
Will that be the new narrative 12 wins or he sucks?

That’s on brand for this place.

Will they get 12 games in before Nov 1st? The inevitable November collapse has happened basically every year for Kyler.
Carson Palmer has the best single regular season record since the Cards have been here at 13.

The second best season was 11 wins and that was K1.

This franchise is a perennial dumpster fire and I wouldn’t be banking on failure from players who leave here. The track record ain’t so good.

I think this is a solid perspective.

Your argument collapsed faster than the Kingdome.

There is zero chance of Kyler being better elsewhere because the reasons that he sucks are all Kyler related.

The issues seeing over the middle, bailing clean pockets, not reading defenses well, missing open guys, poor accuracy downfield, poor leadership, poor off field work rate outside the Gym etc etc. That's nothing to do with anything but Kyler's own abilities.

Sure, maybe he gets a better O line or play caller and that will make some marginal difference. Maybe he has a better defense and that gets him some more wins. But the central issues to why Kyler will never be more than he is now go where ever Kyler goes.

You make no sense at all sometimes. Especially if the Cards will eat salary to make a trade happen.

I think it's pretty fair.

I think the view around the league of Kyler is fairly toxic TBH. Certainly highly uncertain from a GMs perspective.

You know exactly what you get with JB so can be sure in how you assess his value. There's a lot of doubt for a GM in what you are getting with Kyler, and that will be priced in to a degree, contract or not.

I think the Cards could keep all his contract and his ceiling is still only a 3rd. Which is still higher than JB, who would probably cost a 4th tops, but not much difference. And I might be generous with the 3rd TBH.

The fact that the Cards seem universally out of him, including a new offensive HC, is a huge red flag.

I agree that a lot is on Kyler, but we saw Jake Plummer leave here and get better because more was expected of him. It does happen.

I think the probability is fairly low.

Again, the franchise sucks and is a place most can’t win including Palmer and Kurt.

The guy that coached that team by the way has failed everywhere he has been after being here. He’s so terrible that he can’t get a real job in the NFL.
