As good a hire as the Cards were likely to get. A few other teams liked him but were afraid to wait then miss out on a similar level immediate option. ML will require patience on the fans’ part. He is very bright and has a high level of energy, which should be a nice change. There will be quite a bit of OJT. The coordinators selection will be tricky. It may be tough to get a play caller, so I think ML may well end up with that task. He’s come a long way since the Jets experience, which wasn’t a fair test. He should be in great position to get a solid read on Willis, plus this would seem to enhance the Cards’ chance of signing him if they desire. That might jump start the offense’s rebuild. If Willis is his desire, Ossenfort needs the financial support to make it happen. The DC choice will be easier with several experienced guys out there. Hopefully they go for someone who’s aggressive. That’s how this defensive roster was built. I don’t like retaining Rallis. Getting an experienced coaching staff would seem critical. This HC hire should help with attacking the disastrous Oline in both free agency and the draft. Ossenfort needs a focused offseason. I might take a shot at getting Levar Woods for special teams.
Levar did a very good job with the Hawkeyes for a long long time. He would be a good get, but just went to Michigan State, so I'm not sure he'd transfer again so soon. Of course, money talks and he'd have to listen. He actually went to Australia to recruit a couple kickers. I believe one now kicks for da Bears.

Mike Wilson and Trey McBride must be happy. I hope he can figure out the MHJ drama / issues.
McBride is probably the one who is most in danger of being relegated a bit.

LeFleur and the Rams did a good job keeping both Adams and Nakua involved...they combined for 280 targets. 3rd was the TE with 56.

Even in GB, Kraft only averaged 5.5 targets per game in his 8 games played.

Hockenson got 4.4 targets per game in MN under KOC.

Brenton Strange got 5 targets per game under Coen on Jacksonville this year.

McVay and tree do not have a history if using the TE as a focal point. This should be one of the biggest areas to watch this year because the Cardinals should 100% trade McBride if that is going to be his usage. It needs to be at 7 per game.

It's hard not to be a little excited about this hiring. To be a little hopeful.

That is the Cardinal Hopium

9 other teams past on LaFleur this year.

Only 2 teams out of 10 even gave him an interview (us and Raiders).

It's another massive gamble by an organization with zero foundation, consistency, or stability.

Definitely, but there’s probably also wisdom in tempering our expectations. I feel like Kliff and JG really duped me.

I want to be hopeful as well, but not naive. It’s gonna require a lot of luck for the Cards to be the Bears or Jaguars of next season.

For those wanting Schwartz as a DC, he's still under contract in Cleveland. They'd have to release hiim.

What did they sell you a timeshare or something?

I give you permission to be a little bit hopeful.

Trey took a beating last year man. I'm okay if we drop his targets down from 170 in 2024 to like you said, 105 or 110 in 2025.
I'd like to see him stay in the league for a while.

The big difference, for me with this hire, is that ML is someone who most people on here had mentioned and seemed to like since the firing of JG. He's not someone who's name just popped up because no one knew anything about him. I think we actually wanted him over some of the old hires, who have not had much success as head coaches, I. E., Joseph, Morris, etc. (not talking about Harbaugh or McDermott).

I like this hire a lot and hope he can change this organization's fortunes despite the current ownership.
