Who cares? So, after two years, how many head coaches will the Cardinals still be paying?
I mean, the other three coordinators who never called plays under McVay are doing fine I’d sayNot sure about hiring a young coordinator who didn’t even call plays at his previous gig but… at least it’s not Vance Joseph.
I would posit that an OC learns more by coaching under an offensive wunderkind like McVay or Shanahan than calling plays under a defensive coach. And the McVay coaching tree has produced some very successful head coaches. Not sure about hiring a young coordinator who didn’t even call plays at his previous gig but… at least it’s not Vance Joseph.
I’m right there with you. He’s not even the OC on his team. McVay is the brains behind the innovation. There's always that 1 a-hole who hates a move everyone else loves, right? Guess today that's me.
Gotta feel good for the people who really wanted Mike LaFleur. I just don’t see it.
He didn’t call plays with the Rams, and the last time he did call plays was with the Jets and that offense was brutal. He was only the Rams’ OC for two years, you don’t just “download McVay’s brain” in that time. Before that, he spent four years in San Francisco as the “passing game coordinator,” and the Niners went 29–35 during that stretch(Did make it to 1 Superbowl in that timeframe). I think people see the names “LaFleur” and “Rams” and get excited.
To me this feels like Bidwill chasing the next McVay again. I don’t think this is it. I will have a very open mind about this, and hope he can change my opinion. Welcome to AZ coach.
That's actually a well thought out statement, IMO.Owner Michael Bidwill: “We had the opportunity to speak with an outstanding group of candidates during this very thorough process and gathered tremendous insight from each of them. At the end of that process, it was clear that Mike LaFleur possesses all the traits necessary to lead this team to success as its head coach. He is highly intelligent with an exceptionally sharp, creative football mind. Mike is also a dynamic and innovative leader and exactly the type of person we were looking for to guide our team as its head coach.”
It's time for us to have some luck as far as coaches goI hope he is the real deal and can stick around for a while. Sick of the revolving door of head coaches. Let's have a good long run with a coach, finally.
He will last longer in AZ than Kubiak in LV.I hope he is the real deal and can stick around for a while. Sick of the revolving door of head coaches. Let's have a good long run with a coach, finally.
You can make an argument that they did.Schecter? The same guy that reported all teams would have their head coach in place last Wednesday.
Who wrote it for Michael Bidwill? That's actually a well thought out statement, IMO.
