I saw earlier he in the final two for the Titans. Everyone else was told they woild not get a another interview.Yeah I jus saw that reported by Adam Schefter: 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is scheduled to interview late tonight for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job.
Arthur Smith, Saleh, Vance...really swinging for the fences lolSaleh and Cardinals interview later today
Where did you see this as I just looked at their newspaper website which stated that they are going to first interview him on Sunday. He is only doing zoom interviews as the 49ers are still in the playoffs.I saw earlier he in the final two for the Titans. Everyone else was told they woild not get a another interview.
Really pushing Arthur Smith![]()
Cardinals reach out to former head coach who saw his season end on Monday
The Arizona Cardinals continue to phone potential candidates about their head coach openings, but the truth is, the team can’t actually bring them in for an intraisingzona.com
I'm surprised that he's interviewing with us given our quarterback situation and organizational dysfunction. It seems too much like the situation he experienced with the New York Jets.Yeah I jus saw that reported by Adam Schefter: 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is scheduled to interview late tonight for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job.
Probably looks bad to turn down an interview - or Saleh's agent told them "You can get a short interview with Saleh, but you also have to interview our other lesser known client as well".I'm surprised that he's interviewing with us given our quarterback situation and organizational dysfunction. State media Mouth of Sauron alert.I'm starting to realize that Bidwill has the exact same mindset as most of this board, and that is why Keim was a bad GM. Win quick or blow it up, no matter what. Keim was bad for constantly making wasteful trades to "go all in" on terrible rosters. The "go all in" moves would result in a few extra wins in the short term, while limiting success in the long term. I now realize why Keim did this.
Last year Monti didn't go "all in" on our roster. He did things to improve it, but he did not make irresponsible trades or severely leverage the cap to make a superbowl push. This was smart because we all knew last year wasnt a superbowl push year, especially with how the 2024 draft turned out. It was a "one last chance for Kyler" year. Monti was punished for this. Monti saw that after 47% of the roster went on IR and we finished 3-14 Bidwill completely blew up his rebuild plan by firing Gannon. Its very clear that Monti was blindsided by this move. Bidwill later said an extra win or two would have changed his mind.
If instead of having a top 3 pick we had pick 8, the staff that Monti specifically shaped the roster for would be retained. If Monti had made a few bad trades at the trade deadline we would have probably gotten an extra win or two against any one of the Bucs, Jags or Falcons. A 4th and a 5th to rent Jakobi Meyers while Zay and MHJ are injured? Why not? That's what Keim would have done. We would have won the Jags game with Jakobi easily. Instead Monti did the responsible thing and didnt waste assets on a lost year, he stayed put so we could have a higher pick. In his mind the only sacrifice was fan enjoyment of the rest of the lost year. A small price to pay for a faster rebuild. His reward is having to interview two dozen coaches, none of whom would have us in their top 4 choices, and all of whom will want to completely reshape the roster AGAIN. Here you go Monti, scrape the bottom of the barrel for coaches, and time to blow it all up again.
So in the future, past year 1 of the new coach (honeymoon), I expect Monti to start giving away 3rds, 4ths, 5ths and 6ths like candy. I expect him to always be active at the trade deadline, even when its clear we're coming last in the division. If he doesn't manage the same way Keim did, Bidwill will blow up the rebuild again. The difference between 3 wins and 5 wins isnt a better pick, its life or death. You cant worry about the future when your boss is only concerned with your next earnings report. Keim made a bunch of irresponsible moves for our 11-5 2021 season, and he was rewarded with an extension. It doesnt matter that those moves directly contributed to the issues in 2022 and 2023, any GM that manages responsibly here wont live to see the rewards.

I think you are right, TCF, but would it actually be so bad? I mean, I don’t like the Murray-part, but Davis Webb is an exciting offensive mind. He might even get a head coaching-job this cycle. I heard some analyst on a podcast say that if you ask all the Rams offense coaches what defense they really don’t like to play against, they all say Vance Joseph’s.If VJ is the hire - I would speculate its because of the relationship with MB (not Monti's choice), money (he can get paid on the low end), and he would be open to running it back with Kyler in 2026 so MB doesn't have to eat all that money for a player on another team (along with other coaches).
OC - Davis Webb (also in Denver)?
Yes. It would be typical Cardinals, so yes, it would be very, very bad.I think you are right, TCF, but would it actually be so bad? At least give me Joseph over Matt Nagy, Arthur Smith, Morris, Thomas Brown any day of the week.
